Why the compeition?

Ok, in my school...there are 3 groups of quote unquote "gearheads". One being the kids who drive the VW's, the one im in.......the civics, preludes, and integras, and then the kids who drive mustangs.

Now, everytime someone roars up a conversation about cars, the VW kids will talk with us and actually agree with some of the things we say. Now the mustang kids for some reason cannot stand any type of "rice burner". I showed on of them the 12 sec. hatchback thats for sale on this site, and he said and I quote....

"If you put half that shit in a mustang it would run 9's."

Then he proceeded to try and find a faster mustang on the internet. Now, i dont like the kids who drive mustangs, just because they think their cars are the fastest things on the planet. Anyone else run into any kind of similar situation?

ya a lot of mustang owners think theyr the Shiznat not all but a lot. some are pretty annoying. i mean yes i have seen fast mustangs, but the people with the slow ones are all cocky too... i gots a slow bird and i am far from cocky about it... i wont even be cocky about it when i put my new engine in it. everyone thinks their is some war between domestics and imports?¿ hmmm, i like any cool car, especially if it goes fast "cant we all just get along"?

But of course, there will always be the fact that we are more original when making fun of their cars then they are of ours. we're more orignial.

Sounds like you trash on their cars too. You're putting them all in a group.... there are some cool people that drive mustangs, and there are assholes, same goes with import drivers.

They all talk shit and if you ask me the only decent one of em is my friend Eric who drives an 01 'Stang GT...and he still gives me some shit but I give him some too...its equal...Also, if you hadnt noticed most of the domestic people that are on this site started out talking shit to us "honda-ers"...and as far as I know, and every site that I have visited for domestic car forums there are no import people talkin shit about domestics.

But Im not saying "Import people are all nice...domestic people are all assholes" There are asses on both sides...

I really think that if the majority of the domestic people werent such pricks most of the time we'd all be happy as pigs in shit. We drive modded cars, so do they...should we get the same respect that they do?

(none of this domestic bashing is pointed at the domestic drivers here, 90% of you guys are alright...eventually )

Most Mustang owners do suck, but there are some that are cool(very few). I even have most the Stang owners put my Cougar in the "ricer" catagory and it pisses me off. They are always trying to race me and prove that they do have a bigger badder motor. Duh fellas 302ci to a 2.5l, comon you should be racing the firebirds and other V8's, but know they get spanked around to much so they go for small 6 cylinders and four cylinders guys to make themselves feel big and mighty. Give me a break and the rest of us a break. Theres more of a challenge to what im/we are doing than what your doing w/ that 302!! I do have a good joke for you honda guys if you can take the humor!

Hondas always been about handling.. It even stems down into thier ATVs, dirtbikes and motorcycles..With the exception of a couple of things, the majority of the hondas arent made for flatout speed.. Honda has been about Road and track drivabitity, and selling good reliable cars.

As for the Import vs. Domestic thing, I think its all dumb.. But what can you do.

Now not to start a big debate but the Cougar ran a faster slolum(sp?) speed than a Acura GSR. Not much road handeling considering the Acura is a superior car than the Cougar. Now the 1/4 mile belongs to the GSR, explain that one.

Sounds like, look it up on the internet!!!! Look up any magazine that calls out those specs, they all say the SAME thing. I know its hard to believe but my cousin has a 2000 GSR and he argued this until looking it up on the internet. Lets put our pride to the side and realize that the Cougar can beat the GSR in ONE out of 20 performance catagories

not to mention you guys are all driving civics or VW's.... common its a civic, its not some V8, its a 4banger with some "rice" to make it go faster (ha!). If you want to play with the big boys you need to do alot of work. If once you've done all that work and you still dont get any respect from them well its not you thats the problem its them. IMO people are hating ricers because there are so many "RICERS" out there. Too many civics with body kits, rims and a wing and all on a fwd car that has had nothing done to the motor. If you are all about image and people say shit about you maybe you should think about why they are saying shit. IT might be because you are all caught up with the looks of your car and you gots no go!

I love honda and will always love them, but i am getting tired of this battle going on between NA and import cars. I mean common, you buy an eco box and want to hang with the big boys. Its one thing if you are into it for the looks but if you want speed you need to buy another car with more potential. Not to mention, who even cares what the V8's say? Its like taking an F-1 car and a rally car and racing them on the same course. Well i'm sorry to tell you but the two cars were designed to do two very different things and under to very different conditions.

Honda rulez on alot of things, but their civics are far from fast. VW if just as bad - if you ask me. I'm not a VW fan, yes they have nice design but no go and no i do not consider the GTI a sports car, i consider the lude, rsx, rx-7, wrx and others to be sports cars.

Civic drivers should start racing under the "eco box" title from now on, and leave the "races" to bigger and meaner machines.

Alright i'll stop there, and if I hurt anyones feels... well ya im just getting really tired of some punk in a civic wanting to race me. I mean common i have twice the displacement... stick with your own kind and I'll add my machine is far from fast so i am by no means say shes "fast" ; just shes faster then 9 out of 10 ricers around here.

i've got more mustang people in my town that think that just because they have a mustang that their the shit but just r shit. now for the imports most of them but some euros, pipe, and maybe an intake and thats it. we do have a some serious imports that understand that fast & furious was a load of crap on imports
