Why NX is better
Its simple, they rate theirs at the wheels so if it says 50 shot then you get 50hp to the wheels unlike other brands that say 50 shot but you only get about 35 to 40 to the wheels.
Just wanted to post something to get this forum started.

IMHO thats a rediculous claim for a company to make. the differences between companies drivelines, as well as the fact that they don't know if it is going on an auto or manual make it imposible to estimate HP at the wheel. It's a marketing ploy, a 50 shot NX is about the same as a 60 shot from somebody else. Yes I know that 60 isn't a typical size, but make sure that you think about that. I don't that it makes NX better, just bigger.

You have a good point, but take this for example. Take the 3 major brands of Nitrous oxide. NX, NOS, Zex. Put all three brands on the same car running the same shot and dyno it. Eventhough all three say 50 shot, the NX will be the closest to the advertised gain. Thats all I'm saying, whether they "cheat" or whatever, they have the best gains.

Oh I agree, but I just wouldn't say that makes them the best. I would look at things like ease of installation, completeness of kit and price too before I decided one was the best, although I would certainly take the size of the shot under consideration. It also creates confusion, If somebody told me that I could safely run a 75 shot on my motor and I went and ran a NX 75 shot, which is more like a 90 shot, I might end up damaging my motor.
I guess whats important is to be informed! |

NX may rate their kit at wheels, but what is the actual shot level? Its not the amount stated. Let's assume a 14% loss through the drivetrain. That would mean that NX's 55 shot would be the equivelant of 63 shot by the "other" manufacturers' standards.
I'm not in any way saying that NX is a bad setup. But its very hard for any manufacturer to rate the HP at the wheels given the amount of variants for each make of car. A more reliable rating would be at the crank.

Although I have my own opinions, I agree with both of you on a few points. Zex would be the easiest kit to install by far. Then the point about messing up your motor when you run a 50 shot and it is really like 60 or 75. I am bowing down to the Nitrous Oxide gods as we speak.

Well i would say they are the same.. The only way one can be better is if the Solenoid opens faster than the other brand
The jettings are the same for each Kit. They go by numbers which are universal for any nitrous kit.. All a nitrous kit consist of is The bottle-Nitrous Line-Solenoids-more nitrous line-nozzle-jetting-into the intake... Now the only part where brand would matter is the Solenoid Part. It opens and closes whenever u hit the button.. And the type of nitrous u have only depends on where u get it from.. So i would personally say that all kits are basically the same! Besides Zex :-X All of the zex's kits are built into one command center which controls everything.. It monitors the fuel pressure to insure the right amount of Nitrous going into the engine.. This may be good or bad.. I remember once a shop telling me the Zex is somewhat a Imitation Nitrous kit.. Because its for beginners and that the nitrous level its going to shoot wont be as nominal as other kits... |

Hey hey hey. No knocking the ZEX kits.
The bad part I have found with ZEX is that purple NMU. That thing is bulky. The longest part of the install was finding a good spot to mount that thing. The nitrous is the same. Well at least if you compare a 55 shot of NOS to a 55 shot of ZEX(we already discussed what NX's idea of a shot was).

Yeah I spent about a half hour looking for a spot to fit that box. Another thing bad about Zex is that its limited to a 75shot.

True. But in reality that's all the higher you would want to go with a dry kit.
