Which °1° brand?
If you were allowed to use only 2 brands to build a full system which ones would they be.
The speakers (including subs) and amps have to be of the same brand. ::

Alpine for Headunit and multimedia
Kicker or JL for everything else-I love both brands so I can't decide between the two.

I've got a Kenwood deck and changer, everything else is Kicker Resolution- pics in the link in my sig.
I've also got an AudioControl Three.1, but it could be left out if necessary. Also- Diamond Audio just came out with their amps- haven't heard them yet, though. finally- don't forget about the big boys- A/D/S and Orion both make incredible speakers and amps. |

Orion's upper line is good but I would still recommend Kicker or JL. JL's new amps are absolutely amazing.

If you're not a big A/D/S fan, you haven't heard their good stuff installed well. A/D/S, Dynaudio, and Diamond are hands down the best sounding stuff out there. The Orion HCCA stuff is incredible. Then again, the difference between this stuff and the JL/Kicker/Alpine, etc- they're two different worlds.

Kicker, of course!! That was my choice.. Orion, offers excelletn products for a moderate price (their lower end). As for the higher end, I totally love it. & i'd even go till saying that I'd pick that over Kicker. Not likely to happen anytime soon though, since I'm a baller on a budget.

I like the sound of my girls Xtant amps and JL subs and seperates. She has an Eclipse headunit that does all kind of flips and stuff and thats sort of cool too. I dont know I just thought i would add my 2 cents even though I know nothing about stereos I jsut hooked them up wasnt that hard. I just know hers is loud and clear.

LOL ok.. Clarion is good, no doubt.. but its funny seeing it in the same sentence as eclipse.. Unless like this : "During to the solar eclipse, I was listening to my favorite cd on my clarion HU".

Eclipse's headunits are great. IMO-no comparison to the Clarions. Eclipse is much better a brand.

hi! Welcome to HS! Why do those amps suck? Cause they lack a little in the SQ field? Not eveyone is able to afford Mac, helix, brax... FOr the dudes that want to get loud with decent SQ without spending too much $$, USAmps are pretty good IMO. ------------------------------------------------------------- Sorry I didnt get what you're trying to say in your last post?

1 BRAND THING
GOOD POINT ON THE MONEY THING, BUT AFTER A LONG TIME OF PUTTING SYSTEMS TOGETHER(I LIVE IN A COUNTRY WHERE THE PRICES ARE SKY HIGH) IVE REALIZED (AND YOU MIGHT AGREE)YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. WHY NOT WAIT, SAVE UP. AND GET SOMETHING GOOD, RATHER THAN RUSH IN AND SPEND MONEY ON SOMETHING YOU WILL LATER WANT TO REPACLE? I DONT OWN ANY MCINTOSCH STUFF, ITS OUT OF REACH FOR ME TOO. MY SYSTEM IS MADE UP OF CLARION (24 BIT) FOCAL, AND CADENCE. ITS TAKEN ME 2 YEARS TO FINISH MY SYSTEM. MY POINT "DON'T RUSH"
THANKS |

I totally agree on the *dont rush* theory!
This may seem crazy, but even though I'm only 19.. I've been in the car audio field for around 7 years. Since I was a tiny dude, cars are all I car about, well almost. & most of it is car audio. So at around 15, I was already helping some of my buddies do competition installs.. Back to the point.. Yes, in most cases you do get what you pay for. But their are som exceptions.. ie. Autotek, Image Dynamics. Even the almighty IDMAX.. It's kinda on the expensive side, but if you've heard what it's capable of.. you'll probably agree that it'll run against (and in most cases take out) subs that are much much more expensive.. *cough* W7... Anyways let's not start that debate now..

1 brand
you made some good points. its just sade to see people who read the big stickers on some amps about specs. and not the paperwork in the box. or things like s/n ratio, of the sensitivity instead of just "how watts i can pump it with.

SIMILAR WAY
I GUESS SOME THINGS MAKE SENCE. IF YOU WANT SOME FRIENDLY ADVICE, THE THINGS THAT MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN MY SYSTEM (CIVIC HATCHBACK) WERE THE Q-FORMS KICKPANELS AND THE DYNAMAT. YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO THE KICKPANELS, GREAT SOUND STAGE.

Dynamat I will do this spring..
kickpamnels, i'm not too sure.. I know it's grea for the SQ, but the thing is that we get a lot of snow up here. And I know 1 too many guys of f'ed up their speakers because of water/snow falling on the kicks. I hate snow!!

theres no magic trick to fix it . .
The only way is to have a port (between trun and cabin.) A port as in, a big hole (s).. Most competitors, will port the rear deck. Yup cut out, in the rear deck to let the bass pass. But that is a little overkill for me, so whenever I want big bass, I fold the back seat down.. Voila a port. The difference with back seat down is tremandeaous. Just curious, are in the US? Not much in your profile..

TRUNK PROBLEM
WELL THE SEAT DOESNT FOLD, IT ONLY HAS THAT ARMREST HOLE.
NO IM NOT IN THE U.S I USED TO LIVE IN TEXAS NOW I LIVE ON AN ISLAND IN GREECE CALLED CORFU. (IT WAS SHOWN IN THE JAMES BOND MOVIE"FO YOUR EYES ONLY") THATS WHY THINGS ARE SO EXPENSIVE. PEOPLE HERE HAVE NO IDEA OF A GOOD INSTALL. :: |

I agree with the porting. Personally I fold down my seat, but that's not always an option. U can make a custom box with a port on one side of it and that helps. I saw this install in a Civic with 2 twelves. It beat! |

well if the arm rest pass thru is around 40cm by 18cm..
its a pretty good start. If not you could also remove the rear speakers .. 6 x 9 's I think... But I wouldnt really do that.. the only other way is to cut in the deck... but thats a whole new ball game..
