Well I finally got a chance to take the Si to the track. This was only my second time ever running and the first time in my Si.

Ran a 16.0 @ 82.4 MPH on the first run. Had alot of wheel hop/spin. I really didn't watch my RPMs like I should have. Just got panicked when the tree started dropping. Ran a 16.2 @ 80.5 MPH on the second run. Softened the suspension a bit to see if I could stop some wheel hop. It stopped alright. Launched a little too low in the RPMs. About 3250 or so. Why I launched that low I have no idea. Anyhow, a 16 was what I was thinking I'd run. Next time I will break into the 15's. Just gotta figure out what I'm doin'. The 1/4 is a bit different than a street race. If any of you have any tips for a rookie, I wouldn't mind hearing them...... No tips but practice, practice, practice. You'll be in the 15s with no problems in a modded si.

launch at like 4500 rpms.. hold your rpm steady while you slip the clutch in, your gonna feel wheel spin as soo as it starts gripping hard, the clutch SHOULD be almost out, then give it gas and if your hopping, you need to jsut keep trying till you find a good way to launch. low rpms launches may get you that 2.2 60ft but your mph will be lower. you need to get a 2.2 from a high launch and get a good mph at the 60, shift as fast as you can. hold your gears out as long as you can.. i dunno what other tips to give you.. STOCK RIMS! 17's suck for wheel hop. you can lock up and get a good 60-ft sometimes, but your 1/4 mile will be off by .3 or so. i have racinghart cp-35's they weight 16.5 lbs, and im gonna run the 18lb stockers next time cause the unspun weight is closer in and requires less tq to push em. i hope i helped a little. oh DO NOT burn out street tires. i just graze mine like for .5 seconds to get dirt and rocks off them, and any burn out water. street tires dont grip better like drag radials when they are hot.

Yeah I skipped the burnout patch. Street tires don't need the warm up.

Well I'll be making another attempt this coming Thursday. I'd like to put my stock wheels on, but my cousin has them. Hopefully I'll get them back by Thurs. biker, 16.0 is faster than 16.3....... ![]()

BTW. I forgot to mention. There was a street legal stang ther running 38 PSI, turbocharged. Man it sounded sooo sweet sitting at the line. His first run he had a bad launch. Not sure if he broke something or what. The second run a big cloud of smoke and not from his tires. Smelled like he blew a head gasket. He leaked stuff on the track too. Everyone lined up on the fences and in the stands for this guy. Apparently he's pretty popular. Felt kinda bad for him since he messed up his ride.

13's is fast. 15's to me is still pretty slow, i was very dissapointed with my 15.1 it was my second time at the track, the frist time being almost a year ago. but i did a little tweeking and i should be in the 14.5 range next time i go back. the track is a screwy place and your car can only go as fast as you can drive it. you can have a 12 second car and no be able to turn more than a 13.5

not much.. full ignition intake/exhaust (all components) ECU tweaks to the timing and couple of otherthings, I cant remember at the moment.. But light stuff.. I'm quiet lucky a friend who is a mecanical engineer/car mecanic/import tuner.. Lets just say, he know what he's doing. And obviously, I keep the car in top shape. That mid 15 I pulled was pretty much the max, cause I was shifting so beautifully that day.. The Accord tranny isnt as bad as most people think.. However the 1st gear totally sucks.. So in 1/4 mile run, a flat 15 is most probably impossible for me. But on 1/2 mile, I should be pretty strong. Still on the skimpy f22 (non vtec -- canadian EX).. PS, we didnt shave the head or do any crazy sh!t like that.

Well I ran it again this past Thursday.

Sheesh. I'm starting to figure things out. I only got 2 runs in though. Damn people kept leaking on the track. The first run was what I expected.... a 16. I dunno why, but I just felt like it wasn't gonna happen. The second run was damn near perfect.....except I missed third gear!!!!!! The launch was gorgeous. My change tray popped open as I hit second spewing change all over. I think that distracted me becuase I completely missed third. Ugh. 16.5 On a good note I got my reaction time down to 1.0. Pretty good for me since I;m still learning. Some people were getting like .17. Geez.I didn't put my stockers back on. I ran outta time before I went. I should have them on this week though. I need some new rubber for them though. I softened my suspension in the front all the way. Man that kills wheel hop like nothing. Ahhh so the saga continues. I've made a promise to myself not to buy any more mods til I hit the mid 15's as is. I figure if I can't drive good with what I got, n2o & the like aren't gonna be miracle workers.......

Sounds good. You'll be good for some better times with practice and stockers.

You said people were getting .17 R/Ts? I thought .5 was perfect. I'm I just crazy? I've never been to the track, so I just go by what I hear.
