Well, Nissan Racer, It's not about just being the fastest. My friend's Grandmother has a 5-speed Altima and it is quick, but not everyone has the luxury of going out and buying the quickest car. You take what you got(in my case Civic Ex) and make it what you want. I guarantee you 99.9% of the people here would rather be rolling in a Civic Si than an Altima. You could go out and buy a junky 5.0 for 4,000 and whoop the shiznit out of your SpecV every day of the week. I know from experience. My 5.0, including fixing things wrong with it, was under 5,500, and I was walking on LS1's every chance I got. Ironic as it might sound, I have been walked on by a 94 Hatch...$4000 + good source for parts + do it yourself labor = 12second car. The car wasn't N/A, but was still under the cost of the Altima. |

i would take a mild powerful car and then mod it. i don't see any fun on getting a car that is already powerfull and beats the crap out of the civics and accords. i rather have a slower one and make it my way. for me modding or working on my car is just a way of life.

I dont want this thread to turn into a piss on honda piss on Nissan.. whatever.. So please keep it calm.
The thing that cracks me up about the new Spec V Sentra is the fact that Nissan is claiming that its pushing 180 Hp. when in reality its only pushing about 145 to the wheels. Either they are really inefficiant with the power or full of crap when it comes to HP ratings..

At the crank but they dont loose near that much at the wheels.. Nissan isnt the only company to do this there are many others that do as well. Then you have VW that says their cars push 150 HP, and actually push 140 to the wheels..

I have 98 Civic DX coupe, and my mom has a 2001 Altima, and I've driven both a great deal. When I try to throw her car around like I do my civic I get alot more hesitation and squeeling from the tires, maybe its the suspension and the fact that the car is a little bigger, but I don't care for it very much. Granted the Altima is much faster than my civic, and has a great engine sound, I'd still take my civic over it because its so much more fun to drive. If I dragged everyone I know I would pick the altima, but for carving up the curves in the hills, I want my civic. Plus my civic gets better gas mileage

I'll try to be not and avoid the Piss on Nissian Theme.... but come on ... an Altima !?!?!?! ROFLMAO .... I think we all bought Civics and Accords becuase we wanted a Nice looking Car not a Rounded out Grocery Getter.... I dont care WHAT you put under the hood.... I will NEVER sport a Four Door Fart Mobile that all the Old People who Can't afford the Maxima drive.
Ok Ok Ok ... I didn't exactly stick to the Don't piss on Nissan theme so I'm going to throw out their, that the 240 is a Bas ASS car and that the 300 z was one of the Greatest cars of all time... and it's a damn shame they stoped making both of them.... then thiers the NEW Z I can't wait to put my suit and tie on and pretend to be rich enough to buy one, just for a test drive. So it's not Nissan in general, but he's better off, yelling at the ppl who bought the Honda Odyess.

What I find very juvenile (no offense juvenile!) is that Mr. Nissan fanatic comes on a *HONDA* forum and starts talking sheet. Is there a purpose for that?
Go to a Nissan forum and give high 5's with fellow Nissan drivers about how *sucky* hondas are. And I seriously doubt a Nissan Altima would kill an S2K......S2K is much lighter. The only reason why an Altima would beat an S2K is the driver sux. I'm not trashing Nissan Altimas, I respect 240 hp out of a six cylinder, even if the drivetrain isn't very efficient. Hondas do tend to start off a bit wimpy unless you get into the higher end models, because they are 4 cylinder and low torque....but once you uncork the engine, those things scream. Plus, I like the fact that I'm getting good gas mileage as well. Sure, a V-8 can beat me (marginally) for now, but soon I'll be smoking V-8's with only half the cylinders and I can still pay under $20 for a tank of gas! Moral: Don't go to a forum talking smack on whatever the forum is devoted to (i.e. Hondas) |

::yawns again:: this is old news and boring. everyone knows that a trans am or ss camaro will beat a stock civic or accord or whatever. boo hoo...my honda is slow and I'm too lazy to do something about it...boo hoo. I forgive you though. You can't get any f-body to run 11s and still get over 25 miles to the gallon like you can a honda civic. don't believe me? send me an PM and i'll tell you about it. WTF is a SpecV Altima? Do they sell those? I'm familiar with the SE-R and SE-R SpecV, but I wasn't aware the Altima had that package. Far as I know, it's a very nice family car.

A 2000 Corvette with a Katech 382, 3.42 gears and a 3500 stall will get 27mpg and make a little shy of 500hp. Back to the magazines with you. |

I'll bet that after all that guy put in that ls1, he wished he had the civic passing him in the QT. at about 15000 less than what he spent.

Hmm...Katech engine runs about $9k or so, add $2k for tyres, gears, and tuning, puts the total cost of mods ~$11k or so, add 30k 'Vette, so ~$41k for a 500hp Corvette with full interior, A/C, and complete driveability. What's it cost to put a Civic in the 11's? Is the passenger seat still in the car? Carpet? And at the end of the day, regardless of who won or lost, one of the racers is going home in a Corvette, and the other one is going home in a really quick economy car, or on a tow truck. But our disagreement was about power and fuel economy. Match and point on that issue, sir. But, if we were talking Mustangs... Max |

To each his own! Its about breaking into the 11s or 10's!! Yes it is easier to do it in a amercan muscle why you ask?? displacment! There is no replacment for displacment only temporary equalizers! But yes i would much rather drive home in a vette then a civic why! prestige that comes with a vette! just my .000000000000000000000000000000002

My step dad had a vette and I didn't really like it very much. New Vettes are nice but last time I was at the track I was running quicker than the Stingray and the 427 (for those who know what that is). I'm thinking that I was quicker more because either the drivers sucked horribly or the engines were just really outta tune, but they were on slicks so I don't really know what the case is.
It's also the whole underdog value! Sure, people are impressed when they see an 11 sec Vette, but even more so impressed and surprised when they see an 11 sec 4 banger!!! C'mon, any of you who have raced the over confident american muscle cars and won know the expression on their faces when they get spanked by a "wind up toy!" juvenile: aaaaahhhhhh!!!!!! I should never have told my little secret! I'm sure it's on the web somewhere by now! I'm glad I never actually did anything with those girls because shortly thereafter they got really into Speed (the drug, not the velocity we all know and love!). I ain't down with drugs, so it's a good thing I wasn't involved with them, even though they weren't doing drugs that night. |
