Need advice...fast
Ok, for one of my courses, I got really well on the midterm and kinda stopped going to class after that My fault and I'm not going to argue, I did a really stupid mistake. Well I have my final exam this friday (from this moment it will in in exactly 36hrs). It is humanely impossible for me to sit down for 20hrs and study so it will be pointless to suggest that, but I do have to things to my aid
1.) I am allowed a double sided 8.5 x 11 cheat sheet 2.) I have access to previous years' finals. This is the course outline... http://www.mpcs.ryerson.ca/~mth110/F03/outline.shtml These are the finals... http://www.mpcs.ryerson.ca/~mth110/OldExams/Finals/ Now some of you who have gone through computer science might know a thing or two about this, what's my best course of action right now? I'm not asking for a miracle of any kind, and right now I have something like 88% in the course more of less, but we HAVE to get 50% or above to get a credit. I have defianetly learned from my mistakes and am going to go to class from now on. Ijust don't want this to cost me. I was thinking I should look at the the previous exams and find the repeating questions, learn them, put them on the cheat sheet, and try to learn the rest. Anyone else have any ingenious ideas? HELP! |

I'd say make an outline in the smallest possible font you can read... do it with microsoft word with no margins... then eat something good and GO TO BED!!! No amount of cramming will do shit if you don't get sleep to clear your head and digest all the info... best of luck.

If I were you I would just go through the exams and copy down everything you don't already know. Hopefully in your case the exam is cumulative and will cover the entire year. If you have like an 88 in there that would mean that you atleast know some of the stuff so you shouldn't have to copy down everything. But just go by the exams and copy down everything you don't already know, then you should do alright.

Not until Friday? Plenty of time.... seriously.
If you didn't get a huge cheat sheet, I'd be worried, but you do. The first thing to do is look at the outline. Go through the book, make note of the main points/formulas/etc. Write them down. Next, go through all of the old finals. Unfortunately, they aren't solutions, but since you have a few to look through, you can get a very good idea of what you will be asked. DO the problems tomorrow and write the problem/answer on your not sheet. You have plenty of room to do all of the finals on the note sheet I'm sure. Next, type all main points that you found above onto the note sheet. You now have a fairly comprehensive list of help to bring to your test. The remaining time should be spent doing problems and writing down anything else you find on your note sheet. Now go to sleep and wake up early to study! It will take a long time, but suck it up and just do it Good luck juv

Look at the old finals to see what the questions were like. Be sure you can do problems of those variety. Look at chapter summaries. Figure out how much of the stuff on the final is before your last midterm, and how much of it is after. Review the stuff from your previous midterm for about 25% of your study time, devoting the remaining 75% to the new material.
Relax and sleep well, don't kill yourself, because you are just trying to give yourself the best chance right now. Overdoing it will inevitably lead to failure, not that you might not fail anyway. |
