Tendencies
I noticed myself doing this the other day.....I have a tendency to associate types of cars with certain types of people and music genres. Like I associate hip hop/r&b music with luxary cars and SUVs and street bikes. I associate techno music with the import scene. I guess I do this because of music videos, car shows I've been to, and media in general.
I don't know if any of the other girls are like this, or whether you guys are like this, but I sort of expect a certain type of person to drive certain types of cars. Like if I pass a Jeep Wrangler, I'm pretty much expecting to see a surfer boy or at least a cute preppy guy driving it not a middle aged man driving home from his CEO position. Sorta like if I pass a Town Car, I expect to see an old man or lady driving it, not a totally hot guy my age sittin behind the wheel. Obviously i think about odd things when I'm driving along on trips, but I was just wondering if any of you guys do this kinda thing....the associations with music and vehicles, or people and vehicles....not the thinking about odd things.

Re: Tendencies
Yea.. I always associated a hot girl driving a cabriolet or a rabbit... Sometimes I get a surprise and see a hot girl driving a muscle car or street rod.. that's the best.

I do the same thing, but we are not alone. The car companies target the people that buy the cars, which is why you almost always see a certain demographic in a certain type of car. In memphis most hot chicks have land rovers or jeep cherokees. Here in tuscaloosa there is a huge assortment, nothing really stands out.

I guess I can kinda see where you'd get that. I see a lot of import drivers rockin out to techno and rap. And I guess that's furthered by the fact that I drive a domestic and listen to mostly punk, metal, etc. But I REALLY associated rap with G-body GMs (Cutlasses, Monte Carlos, Regals, etc.). It's always either an old person or some douchebag with a truck full of speakers and the deck lid rattling. I guess I don't associate techno with cars...I associate it with sissies. Sorry...no offense to techno listeners but any music created devoid of any real instruments that are not computer controlled have no soul or feeling and are therefore wussified (just an opinion...please don't go off topic with that). The biggest techno guy I ever met actually owned a a Camaro, though (it's was a V6 that he slapped SS badges on and thought it was hot shit, though).

The only time you encounter a young guy driving a Town Car or Caddy Deville is when he is paid to drive (limo). On the whole however, you are right about generalizations. Exceptions of course. |

I usually listen to my punk/hardcore music while driving at day, and at night rap or trance. I sometimes get weird looks and it's kinda neat in a way. Course anyone who has ever met me would ask if I drive a Honda...do I look like a Honda driver?
I guess so...around here the ghetto fabulous drive the Cutlass's or H2's on 22"s, the preppy dudes drive the crotch rockets, and there are quite a few chicks that drive imports with lots of bodywork done (most of which are fugly). Surfer guys drive the old crapmobiles including old conversion vans, Trackers, Samurai, jeeps, and stationn wagons. Here it's basically stereotypical when it comes to cars and their drivers |

I definitely do this. Dunno if it's a good thing-but I do it nonetheless.
