CDRW Help
My dad upgraded his PC's OS to XP (Xtra Pretty) Now his Nero doesn't recognize his CDRW...It has identified it as a CDROM drive...I tried everything....Unistalling and reinstalling the driver...I took the CDRW out, restarted the pc, shut it back down, put in the Drive, then fired it back up and the same shit<TEAC_CDROM>
I went to the website (TEAC's support) It says that XP identifies the drive as a CDROM, but by forcing the Recording software to burn a CD, it will see it as a CDRW... I don't know shit aboout drivers and CDRW's...but if you need a small home network, wifi or fastE, I can do it...Can anyone help me out...I want my dad to think that his money for college has gone to good use... ![]() |

Pra-bly cause it is "Xtra Pretty"...i think it was because I have a dual boot Win2000 and XP Pro on my machine...He thought he would me me blush or something by telling me he had XP. I have had NO problems with XP at all...But his machine is quiet older than mine... I tried to contact HP...thay told me contact People PC, then they told me to contact Microsoft, MS asked me "whodafukRU?" So Im kind of contemplating whether to restore my dads defaults or attempt to fix his problem using another approach. |

i've seen this every time w/ nero, xp and windows updates with the 2. sometimes un-installing-reinstalling nero will make it work temp. it has'nt mattered what brand of cdrw used but all did use nero. we would get a yellow ! w/ the INCD feature. if you have access to another burning program i would give that a roll.

I'd just try burning a cd using win cdcreator... just left click on some files and you should see "send to" mouse over that then see if 'cd drive" is an option... if so send them and burn them... that's what teac said would work right?
If that doesn't work try copying and pasting them directly into the cd drive letter via "my computer" windows xp's cd creator is just nero minus the nero badging. it could be causing conflicts (cuz technically there are 2 nero installs on the machine).
