Talon in Import Tuner
I was reading the new issue of import tuner and the TUNER PAGES blew my mind. They had a talon that had a exhaust, intake and ground wires from teh previous tune-up a couple issues back. THis time i was just amazed on how this car can produce HP/TQ. Listen to this. They added three parts to this car agian.
Base HP with previous mods: 183hp/170tq. First new mod: Apexi N1 downpipe: added 36hp/30tq Second new mod: HKS FCD (something to do with fuel) added 47hp/24tq. Last new mod: HOlly feul pump: added 23hp/26tq Okay they said all of these products cost around 650 bucks. That means they added 106hp/80tq with just these three mods. HOLLY SHIT. I was very impressed by the car. It's a 92 Mitsu eclipse (talon). You gotta read this issue gots alot of usefull info. Peace |

well if you look the FCD(fuel cut defenser) it why they picked up so much power, cause they could crank the boost up. OLd DSM's used to fuel cut at 15 psi i believe(or it was 16) so you were limited to the amount of power you can make, remember you get about 10/whp for every 1 psi of boost.
and yes opening up the exhaust and intake/fuel path on a turbo car is like unlocking the closet of horsepower. the car i built made 420WHP, 396Ft lbs of torque on a 2.0 litre....w00t w00t! |

i've read that issue...they made so much HP out of that car and if you were to add $650 to a N/A you could prolly get about 3-4 HP.. looks like its time to save up for a turbo kit..

dont forget to build the engine so that it can withstand 14psi or more, that is only way to get REAL hp out of it

You don't really need to build a stock turbo car too much to up the boost (if at all)... Stock talons can run 18-20 psi on stock internals without ANY problems.. My buddy disconnected his wastegate so it wouldn't ever open... by 7k it was pushing 18psi at least... it's no good for the turbo but his engine lasted fine... Most turbo cars have all sorts of provisions that na cars don't like stainless steel valves... oil squirters for the pistons... forged pistons... beefier rods etc...

the first gen 4g63's would take about 25 psi before they popped. the second gen's were straight up junk due to crankwalk/oil galley issues and the evo plants are coming back strong...gotta love that 4g63
