Outer door handle removal
Hey guys, I haven't been on in a whille, I've been super busy with school ( only three weeks left Woo Hoo), and I just finished moving. Anyways one of my old roomamtes managed to break off my drivers side door handle. I'm trying to put the new on on but I can't get the lock mechanism detached. There is a clip that goes around it, so iguess i have to get that off, but I'm not sure, plus I can't get the clip off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well how far along are you? Have you gotten the handle off the door yet - so the only thing holding it are the linkages?
The clip on the lock cylinder will come off w/ a small standard screwdriver or a set of bent needle nose pliers (what I used). Just a tip, so no new parts have to be bought, just unscrew the entire handle from the latch/opening linkage. Count the threads/turns! Its easier that way, if you ask me and works fine. |

All the linkages are removed the only thing left is the lock. How do i get at the clip, i tried it from the front but i can only get like half of it off, and i can't pull the handle unit out far enough to get at it from the bottom. I'm not sure what you mean by this. Just a tip, so no new parts have to be bought, just unscrew the entire handle from the latch/opening linkage. Count the threads/turns! Its easier that way, if you ask me and works fine.

Go from inside the door panel.
If you broke the handle linkage clip thing, a new one is needed to replace it. Its smarter to just unscrew the whole thing |
