t25??

Anyone running a T25??

Anyone heard disadvantages/advantages of them??

"The 2g DSM T-25 turbocharger. This was the first turbocharger I ever worked with on a Custom Project. It is Oil & Water cooled like the 14b. The 14b & TD04 are Mitsubishi Turbos, The T-25 Turbo is made by Garrett.

The exhaust Housing is the same on all the DSM turbochargers (4g63) You can see how much smaller the exhaust wheel is than the 14b Turbo. The wastegate is also differnt than the 14b turbo, and they cannot be interchanged.

The Compressor Housing makes the T-25 turbocharger very easy to work with.

Overall, this turbo is a great turbocharger if you like incredibly fast spooling turbo's. But does pull nearly as hard at 12psi that a 14b does. "

whats your setup? you should look at sizing a turbo to correctly match your performance needs. trim makes a huge difference also

I actually have a rhb5, an ihi turbo. It's a small turbo that has a fast spool rate. I have pretty much an all stock car and just want to add 20hp and not worry about turbo lag. People suggested the T25 as a good turbo, and i'm told that the rhb5 is very similar.

i like quick spool turbos. a T25 is one of my favs.

T25's work, hell almost anything will work but I would suggest them on a SOHC engine more than the DOHC and even then I would upgrade it to a T28. I build these upgrades for the second gen DSMers looking for a little more punch without building a new manifold or spending the bucks for big upgrades, its also good for those who are realistic about what they plan on doing to the rest of the car. The T28's I build use a T3 super 60 compressor wheel and a T28 exhaust wheel, they still have the quick spool charicteristics but a little more exhaust flow and that means more power. If you got a SOHC engine it will work out but if your going with a large displacment or DOHC look toward the T3 or the TDO5 Mitsubishi you'll want the extra CFM and need the exhaust flow for horse power.

t-25's are nice turbos for low-mid range power...ask any 2nd gen eclipse owner after a certain rpms (i think about 5200) and top of third gear they run out of breath. the 14b on the other had is a very good turbo that pulls hard all the way to redline. when i did have myine in my talon it ran 15 lbs of boost no problems and pulled like a champ so it will so wonders for a honda.

IHI has a few good turbos but way to expensive to repair and or upgrade, I wouldnt touch it. Go with a small T3 or a Mitsubishi unit alot more affordable and perform much better.

Like mentioned above the t-25 will run out of breath above 5200 rpms in a DSM, but remember we run 14.5 psi stock on that turbo and it only falls off to 12 psi. I don't know what level of boost you are wanting to run or what you plan on using the car for but the T-25 is a pretty good turbo. I am planning on going with the BigT-28 made by Forced Performance, it flows about the same as a 16G but has the spool up of the T-25. I only auto-x my car so the low end puch will be great.

i pulled off a T-25 from an old Nissan 200SX. great tiny turbo. it's in an amazingly great condition. i plan on installing it on a project car unless somebody wants to buy it.

T-25 has an A/R.48 on the exhaust and AR.40 (i think) on the turbine.....gotta check again. but to sum it up. this sizing will definitely benefit a SOHC 1.6 honda engine, especially on the street vice drag.
