My first K.
Bare with me here.... g
I got so sick of my daily beater, a 96 Chevy S10 Truck V6. That is the last ever domestic vehicle that I'll ever buy (except maybe a Ford F150 ). I paid $5200 for it two and a half years ago and in no time almost stripped my wallet to bare threads: *1 year after purchase= front brakes and rotors wore out to where the caliper pistons protruded onto the rotor. I almost died that day..... cost me $375 to get fixed. *1 year and 3 months later, I failed the inspection because both the rear (drum) brakes were too worn for safety. At the same time, all rear solid brake lines barely had any identifyable metal area. Rust accumulated so bad. Inspectors also found that my steering linkage bushing were shut to hell. I saw all these... and I couldnt agree more. Cost me $1150 to get fixed. *1 year and 6 months later, all the tires could no longer take the daily beating. Cost me $350. *2 months ago, the U-joint seized up. Cost me $12 and a cold while working on a freakin' cold contrete floor *1 month ago, the fuel pump went bad. This cost me a whopping $650 *a week ago, I realized that the gas gage only works from full to half tank. I didnt get this fixed. *3 days ago, the one of the front sway bar end linkage snapped off. I replaced both with Energy Suspension. Cost me $15 *Then today, it decided to only fire 4 cylinders out of 6. WTF?!!!! I took it to a tuning shop and they replaced the spark plugs. Cost me $50. Too cold to do it outside on my own........ but that was not the problem with the misfire. It was diagnosed to have 2 failed injectors. Estimated price to replace with newer ones is between $800-1000. So, I said fuk it! I dumped a thing of injector cleaner (without adding any more gas) and drove it all over town to look for another beater. This time, I went for something I would be familiar of or somewhat familiar of. I found an automatic silver '02 Honda CRV LX RT-AWD with 42xxx miles. I got it for $15000 with full warranty. It has a 2.4 i-VTEC on a whopping 160hp and 163 ft/lbs of torque @ 3000 . I have no plans.... nor will ever modified this vehicle. I will drive it until it can no longer take a beating. During the trade, the dude had to drive the S10 to estimate how much they will give me for it. The moment he started the truck, it smelled raw fuel and even backfired a little..... ha ha ha. He didnt noticed. He even bogged while going reverse. He told me the truck ran fine... hahaha.... Pics will be up later |

Dude...I could've saved you a couple grand and told you that Chevy/GMC trucks BLOW...especially the smaller "trucklets" like the S10/Slownoma. I should know...my '01 Slownoma has been nothing but a pain. Wiring problems, idle problems, my ABS light is on and I don't give a shit, intermittent CEL (with no codes...huzzah!), and worse traction in bad weather with all seasons than my Mustang with open track tires. So I just beat it like a rented mule.
I hate that fucking thing.

Hope you got an okay deal on trade in. When I traded my asS10 in they gave me $500 less then what I paid for it over a year earlier. It was an okay truck for me, but to ball-less to pull anything. Congrats on the new CRV though.

I actually made some money off it.... can you believe that? I made almost $500 on the trade.. hahaha..... Steve, you are right about the CEL. Mine was intermittent with no codes. I was never impressed with the drivability of it. The steering sucks and the handling is terible.
All I have for now are night pics. |
