you don't want to mount it to the material. Usually they take out the current piece and make a sub mold. most time they'll mold something different, that is the hole point, not to look stock. You should be able to look up custom car sterio installs on the net.

if you put fiberglass on the dash w.o removing the skin/cover material yes you will ruin the dash...
You can glass on top of the door panel frames... they are made of fiberglass I believe... and if not they'll take if fine I'm sure.

i'm not really looking to do any custom stuff. i just want to be able to paint it the colours i want. Also it will match my stereo because i'm going to be doing a bug fibreglass install.
The rear is like a plastic so i wonder if it will be tough enough to take the fibreglass. And if i take the covering off the dash i shouldn't have a problem |

Uh... you can just paint the stock vinyl if you just want to paint it...
They make vinyle dyes that work plenty good... Ask mishief... something or other.

I was to get rid of the little cracks that are in the vinyl from the factory. It's some stupid little design. I doubt that the dye or the paint will get rid of those. Also i want it to be the same as the fibreglass enclosure that I'm making for my subs and amps.

A. the smoother the more reflective (reduces YOUR visability)
B. enough paint will cover ANY cracks. I believe this is the look that mischief(lts) has with paint... he did a write up I believe... imo you will eventually regret doing this... if not you will definately regret it if you ever are going to sell your car.

I've never met anyone who did it that didn't regret it eventually...
It's just kinda cheezy imo... do what you want but I know a LOT of people who thought that it looked great (including me... on some cars) but as time passes your opinion on it changes... It just starts to look cheezy... Also it will TOTAL your resale value and the cost of replacing ALL the parts you painted is VERY VERY high... even going to a junkyard to get pieces it's gunna cost an arm and a leg and take LOTS AND LOTS of work to get it back to stock looks.... ALso MOST of the time it doesn't come out that good and if it does it doesn't last for ever by ANY stretch of the imagination. try doing a scale version of it first... IE fiberglass/paint something worthless... not your car... if you like how it comes out have at it... but more often then not it turns into a learning experience you wish you never had to go through.
