B16 or B18?!?!?!
Does any one know how to tell a B18C5 Type R head between a B16A head? The casting is the same, but which one is which?!?!?!

Well, if it looks bigger.....
the b18 is the 1.8 liter and the b16 is the 1.6 liter |

That has nothing to do with the head. The liters is affected by the bore and stroke. Pdiggitydogg was talking about the intake manifold and exhaust manifold holes being bigger, but I don't have a B16A head, so I can't say one is bigger or not.

heh the b series engines at least the b16 and b18 have the same bore. the stroke is different and a b16 block can take a b18 crank and make it a b18, but for differences in the head i have no clue. i guess it has more to do with the cam profile rather than the head casting.
<--accord guy here

I'm basing this on a search of honda-tech....
*edit* THIS IS A QUOTE */edit* the type-R head should be stamped mine is stamped pr3 or 4 and the b16 is P73... *end quote* but frankly I think that's backwards... heres a links someone put up... http://www.lightningmotorsports.com/techhonacua.htm apparently also itr heads have "green paint" on them somewhere... I think on the same side as the dist. closer to the firewall. that's about the best I can come up with on a quick search... good luck

I did a little more reading and..
PR3 is DEFINATELY the itr head code... however it's also the b16 and the b17's apparently. The best ways to tell the differences are by looking at the ports... or for that green paint... but again ports can be p&p'd and green paint ain't too exclusive an item...

yup... exactly how I'm feeling... but if it's p&p'd still cool... haha... just as long as more air flows...
