Two quick questions
After looking over some civics, i noticed some have a "v-tec indicator", which i'm assuming tells you when the v-tec is engaged. So i assume it just looks pretty? How hard is it to do?
And secondly, i notivced that some cars have a tightened throttle cable... does this have any real purpose and how hard is it to do?

The "vtec light" is just a light you can hook up to show when the v tec solinoid opens, not really usefull
only tighten the throttle cable if there is slack in the pedal |

throttle cables are tightened to increase sensitivity
give more throttle when you "blip" the pedal (all you do is losen the nuts, lessen the slack(NOT taught), and retighten the nuts) If you make it too tight the throttle will not close all the way and your idle will be too high. to wire in a vtec(no "-") indicator you just wire a pos. lead from the vtec solenoid to an led or light and ground it somewhere. Its pointless because you can hear/feel it anyways, and it always comes on at the same time/place/rpm. Its just as dumb as having a mess of gauges when you dont need them. |

tightening the throttle cable will result in increased throttle response and the vtec light really has no real purpose for a daily driver. i can understand if its a race car- then you can optimize your shift points and keep your car engaged in vtec, other than that it looks pretty neat

I wouldn't say you can hear it. I have no idea when mine comes on. (SOHC d16z6) but yeah, i wouldn't do the light thing, just more work for yourself and another chance to mess something up. |
