Ricer...?
I was just wondering...There so many people that call eachother ricers and i mean anyone with a mustang assumes anyone with a honda is a Ricer.... What would you guys say is the "real" Meaning of ricer...Stupid topic...Maybe? But i mean i just figured a ricer was someone like myself who was a Honda/Acura Enthusiast who wants his car to Look its best as well as perform on the drag strip... I personally never took being called a ricer as an insult infact i take it the exact opposite i was just wondering if anyone else had any opinions on this topic? I mean really who doesn't want their car to look as fast as it goes?

imo a ricer is anyone who puts crap on their car that does nothing to improve performance (ie a totally stock engine and crazy body kit, wings, neons, stickers, etc.). It also applies to fools who think its cool to streetrace...or e-race for that matter.
Also...typing things like: "Y0 dawg dis hur be mad tite. Iz a racer"...I cant even do it right..but you get the idea. Another 'my opinion' is the car was made w/ specific lines...adding crap to it outside what came from the factory screws em up (99% of all body kits = poop). PLUS, if your car looks fast, youre going to draw all sorts of attention, wanted and not. As people driving cars that already receive a bad rep. from stupid movies why would you want that? The more stock you look, the less attention...thats a good thing. |

You're a ricer if you think a CAI will shave a minute off your 1/4 mile time.
You're a ricer if you paint everything in your car red and yellow. You're a ricer if you think you need a quadruple decker wing, and that it actually serves a purpose to your FWD car. You're a ricer if you think you can beat a BMW M3 that has an automatic just because your car is a stick shift and you are a "good" driver... |

ricer IMO was someone that had shit stuck all over there ride....Huge ass Airliner wing on the rear, BS stick on scoops all over, Type-R stickers etc and not that type of vehicle..
I guess a good word for a ricer is simply put by saying "poser"... |

Ok But do see all bodykits and wings as a bad thing? I mean i can totally admit there are cars that shouldn't have wings...But i mean i want an underglow kit for my car...(this =rice i know) and i'm going to get a SENSIBLE spoiler for my car i know this won't actually increase my cars performance by anymeans but i like the way it looks...
I guess Ricer would be all in the attitude think that because you have a stock import (maybe not even an import this could apply to domestics as well) and you've put a bodykit and a wing that could double as a park bench on your car suddenly you think you've got the baddest ride on the planet? Lunis P.S. CAI=??? |

Well for me performance comes first. I want to mod my suspension and get mags first (Looking into tenzo Rs).
In terms of body kit I wouldn't wanna over do it, but I guess eventually a clean skirt kit would be ok. I like the clean jdm style. I like both body and performance mods, but I'd rather have the performance mods if I had to choose. Like I'd rather spend $2500 on a good suspension kit than on a stylish body kit. I don't like the drifting spoilers, but I find the civic coupe looks nice with the stock spoiler. My streets are terrible so for me to lower the car and put a body kit would not be a good idea. I would sracpe the skirts all over the place and maybe even brake them. But If I was in Cali it would be cool. My friend is a mechanic he has a sleeper, its a 1992 civic hatchback, with a gsr engine. He's got dull paint and the car looks really plain. I like that style too but a little looks would be nice to have. That's one reason I don't like the Nissan Sentra SER Spec V it looks like a fat girl, at a prom. Its needs to bit of balance between looks and performance. |

I consider a ricer someone that does shit to their car the cheap way. Like Metal wings that people put on and now they think they are faster. and all that crap. I can be called a ricer cause i did some shit the cheap way or some jacked up ways but it worked for me at the time.

most people know my opinion on the subject, so I won't waste my time.
However, to answer your question at the end Lunis, CAI stands for Cold-Air Intake. This is a tube going from your throttle body down to your wheel well, with a conical air filter stuck on the end. Adds a tiny bit o power. |

Now now...I take exception to that. Understanding the term ricer is like understanding sex...if you don't get it by now, I probably can't explain it to you. To me it's a Geo Metro with Altezzas and a hood scoop or a Civic HB with a wing stuck to the roof above the hatch and neons under it with a 5" Pep Boys LED muffler that sounds like ass. Rice is not restricted to imports...plenty of domestic guys whore out their cars. There's guys driving Mustangs and Camaros with rear wheels sticking out from under the body that are so tall the rear end sits too high and all they've got is some exhaust and underdrive pulleys. There's nothing wrong with tasteful exterior mods like wheels and maybe a small spoiler...but body kits and neon are just flat out gay. But that's me...the domestic guy...what do I know?

Rice = APC, it's simple as that. To be honest I myself like alittle good looks infront of the engine. I appreciate a NICE looking car, and I strive to make mine look good. but I am not discarding performance modifications. To me RICE is a guy driving like a maniac in his Kia with a obnoxious exhaust that sits 1 foot too far out of his car, them chrome altezzas and a huge ass APC banner, who revs at me and when he takes off grinds the F*$K out of his clutch and gear and smokes the engine (actually experience, I laughed for 10 minutes straight) |

i agree with most of the guys, interior mods, if everythign RED, it ugly, but mine is all blck with a few things at a different color but everything isnt one clor, and mine is black and white and simple, i think in car neons are ok, but under car neons no way, that waslike way late 90s, exterior, mostly completley stock, with maybe a 2 inch drop, lile 15inch lightweight rims, maybe a lil lip kit, but mostly looking stock so when some ricer or non ricer looks at you and thinks your shit u beat them.... a pdiggity said performance, and hadleing first..... NO 30 FOG LIGHTS EITHER....

^^ Perhaps...coming from the term "rice rocket" and being derogatory only in the sense that it's a stereotype that all asians eat rice. But I think at this point it's an equal opportunity insult. Hell...I don't remember the last time I actually heard a car owned by an asian guy/gal called "rice". It's almost always whites and hispanics.

The fucking thing was sliver in colour ever seen a mini van with a t2-style wing? Cuz i have.... lots of chrome is more of a mexican flavor. A ricer is someone that wants to run my stang at a red light with 2 cars in front of us, reving, poping the clutch to make it jump forward and just being a total a-hole.:o

dear ricer,
if your buying a body kit for $600 and you gain 3-4 more air vents, tons of extra "bumper", and it never fits quite right, chances are you bought yourself a POS kit. if it glows... chances are i'll laugh at it. think of cars as artwork, make it pleasing to the eye, not harmful to stare at the car. think about what your doing to your car, theres a thin line between fabricating your own stuff and rice. expensive cat backs cost alot more than a muffler for a reason, they are better. mufflers(cheap ones) may look the same, and some may even be able to fake the sound, but your paying for r&d not a metal can with a muffling ring around the outside of it to kinda quite down the exaust. i can design that, just wont make any power. remeber your honda's function, it may be able to compete in many of the same catagories as other higher end cars, but dont be dumb, dont argue that your car is better because it has less displacement and can almost do the same thing as other cars. vtec isnt the end all answer for problems and dont think that it is. sure alot of our honda engines gained a nice amount of power from vtec, but its not a turbo, its not even close. it gives you a little boost in the topend and still lets you get 25 mpg(is that what you guys get? im getting 19 ). oh and while im thinking of it, you know those badass paintjobs you see on hotrods and high end show cars? well vinal isnt the same thing. would you think a $250,000 painting is the same thing as the 12.99 poster reprint you can buy? no high quality paintjobs are artworks, not a sticker. learn about the performance of your car, and be open to other ideas. not everyone at every stoplight wants to race. just because im driving a honda with an exaust dosnt mean i wana play f&f and race for slips. sometimes i drive my car to the store, or to work, or out to a friends house because its my main means of transportation. i dont need to be asses with getting revved at just because you see an exaust and a stock vtec decal on my rear bumber. sincerly, the honda owner who wants to sell his car cause of you
