about taillight conversions
Hey guys , I was going to put this in the del sol forum but i figured more people would see it. How would u go about putting different taillights in a different car like 99 coupe tails on a del sol? does anyone have any pics of a conversion like that?

it's going to be afabrication job for sure....It's basically a matter of finding a set you want for the conversion. Get the entire light assembly and take it to a reputible body shop...

Some people do thing like that. I have been to car show where I saw a civic completely resembled an IS300 on the outside. It blew me away..... The only thing is, after all that money, he is still sportin' a completely stock D16.
I dont mind conversion. I prefer that than body kits. If I have the funds, I would even convert my Teg tails to a JDM 180SX or Acura TSX. Dont get me wrong tho, this is only if I become somewhat satisfied to my engine/handling performance set-up, which will probably never happen.....................To each, his own...... |

I had the same idea, but putting them on a 92-95 hatch.
What are you going to do with the front? It's not a "truck" thing to do. Body mods and part swapping have been around since hot rodders first started the hobby we love and enjoy today. I would love to see more inginuity as far as bodies go in the import scene cause they all look generic. But there's no point in having a super hot car that gets beat off the line by a fully loaded windstar............. |

just a dumb question: are the 99-00 Civic lights different than the 99-00 SI ? like the red on top for the 99-00 civics and the si's the white in on top ?

Dude, if you want that look, I'm pretty sure they sell tails like that on Ebay. And if not, just make your own. Just get some clear Sol tails, tape the bottom half off, and paint the biotches. A friend of mine did that with his 92-95 tails.
His are flipped, but the idea is the same. |

it is my OPINION that i like things of quality more than things not of quality...
it is a FACT that oem lighting is FAR superior to non oem lighting in quality |

I know that's your opinion. And I share that opinion. I don't like non OEM Tails for the most part. Its not like they're ass ugly though. They look just like 99-00 tails. They're not some gay ass euro's or anything. And as far as quality, I wouldn't think you could have much more quality in OEM tails than in non OEM. Only thing I can think of would be how well sealed they are...

whats your reason? mine is the lack of quality.... Quote:
they are cheap looking.. Quote:
to me they definately look differant.... i think that ANY honda enthusiast can spot the differance.. EASILY.. Quote:
opinion on LOOK is subjective... i have NOTHING against someone wanting a euro/altezza looking taillight, or projector headlight.. i personaly do not choose those because its simply not my style... i HATE them because they are cheap and lack quality.. in the SAME way "APC red clear style" tails do... cheap company.. cheap quality.. Quote:
this is a false statement... there is a HUGE differance in quality.. next time you see some altezza "style" tails go really look at them.. check out the "chrome plastic" in them... lol and check out the over all quality in the build.. Quote:
and thats not enough to make them suck ass??? ANY lighting part that LEAKS and allows water to seep in sucks.. has it EVER happened to oem pieces? SURE... does it happen a lot.. no definately not.. that aftermarket shit.. is exactly that.. shit.. |
