That's certainly true to a point...but is racial profiling wrong when it's statistically upheld? If 99% of planes hijacked are done so by those of arabic decent is it wrong to assume that the next plane hijacked will be hijacked by an arab? Or if 75% of drive by shootings are done by black gang bangers is it wrong to look at them the next time a drive by is commited? I don't really think so. I know people want to believe that the playing field is level, but it isn't.

I think perspective is important. Like jjcivic said...we've done a lot of f@cked up things in the name of ethnocentricity in this country against those who are different. But look at the big picture. In many countries you can be killed simply for being from a different part of that same country. In Israel you're automatically the enemy if you live on the other side of an imaginary line. Yeah...we've been pretty messed up but compared to many other countries our hands are relatively clean. Hell...just 50 years ago Germans and Russians were killing jews for no reason other than they were jewish. Not to say that we should tolerate any sort of unfounded prejudice....but we need to look at it in contrast to the rest of the world.
