Is it worth getting....

For $5000....... 97 Civic DX Hatchback in RED
-driven by an old man who wants a bigger car
-no mods
-140,000 miles
-interior is in great shape..... non-smoker owner.
-No major dents except dings here and there
-I looked everywhere for any signs of past wreckage, no bent frames nor signs of frames that were hammered. I could really careless about the mileage on the engine since I plan on doing a B20 swap anyway within a few months. It does have an "SRS" light which I have no clue what causes it to stay lit. Any ideas?

Thank you for your time

SRS is for the airbags....maybe it was in an accident...the SRS light could be sayin' that the bags were deployed...

as far as pricing find out its trade in value (value that dealers give for trade-in) and value up from that price... check www.nadaguides.com

I thought about that too. The old dude was pretty honest. he even said that he disconnected the wire on the SRS. But he also said that it was never in an accident before.

I really like this year HB. I do have the money that I've been saving for this type of moment. I've looked around and could not find anything cheaper than this. It had 2 owners. The daughter and the father (who is now selling it).

might be just a loose wire on the srs...or time for a checkup. Or...some kind of problem...unless you have a trouble code thingy you should take it in for a checkup yourself before you buy.

You could also erase the code yourself, if you dont care whats wrong...but that could be dangerous...

Other than that, sounds like a great deal...Id be interested myself. Id trade the ex for that in a heatbeat (if i could swap my mods to it)

i've taken my car in twice for a fautly sensor associated with the side air bags in my car. i've never been in a wreck. after the sensor was replaced it was all good.

personally i'd put that money into the car you already have or if you have the urge to start a project go with something rwd or awd. thats what i plan on doing.

No. I will be keeping my current car as my daily driver. I will keep it the way it is with the turbo at 10psi. This Hatch is going to be a project car. I will be dropping a B20 or B18 (whichever comes first) and a custom turbo set-up. I will also start doing some body work....... just subtle changes. Nothing jurassic....
