Notice a trend?
Here lately i've noticed that cops are pulling over people like us or not like us for stupid shit that normaly they wouldnt care about...
Like that girl in another post with the cobra eyes. They have been busting people for tint like crazy and also neons..And the ontario thing about pulling over anyone in a modded car... Just a few weeks ago my dad got pulled over in his 99 s-10 with faded dark-light blue flames and it's lowered with like 20$tint maybe darker....they didnt give him a ticket or a warning......and a couple weeks b4 that my friend who had 35% got a ticket and made him tear it off.....WTF? Age discrimination.... My car is completely stock (unfortunately) and i get followed around all the time and all i have is 1 20" neon in the grille that just shows glow you cant see the bulb....and some string light things(hot wires maybe?) around my dash and guages....I have never been in jail or done anything other than set bottlerockets off in the middle of town while cars were comming when i was 13.......and they follow me like i'm a known crack dealer....... My point is......i think there just messing with the younger people just to be asses......they assume that we are doing something wrong........and i believe some movies have influenced the crap......thanks to hollywood and there stereotypical views on import drivers we all have to suffer......from mild mods to extreme ricer crap......not all ricers are bad....they just dont have good taste.....and dont deserve to be treated like a common criminal becuase they have a crazy looking car...... |

The cops around here arent to bad.. Of course, they are with the Sheriff Department and the Sheriffs dont do anything unless they absolutely need to.
I think part of it is because of the "New Generation" of street racers.

I don't notice many problems around where I live, but I drive a white un-modded civic...that's the definition of generic. I have friends that have been pulled over just for having a fast car and being young...getting pulled over for license plate lights and stupid stuff like that

is having tint on the front windows legal in your state?? if not what are you whining about?? it's illegal here as well and they do pull over for it, and they just started their "click it or ticket" campaign so they are pulling people over for more and more violations.

When I drove my Accord around a lot, I got pulled over all the time. I don't really drive it that much anymore. I don't drive it to work. It's not street legal at all. When I come home for work, I take it out here or there but stay pretty close to home. And yes, I get pulled over for ridiculous things. The most popular seems to be tints. Mine are legal in the state of CT (35%) but they don't know that and they try to tell me that they are too dark and then I pull out my receipt from when I got them done. I think the second most popular are my taillights which are legal. However, the lights in my turn signals are not. In addition to that, the front bumper of my body kit has no place for front turn signals to go. So I don't have any of those in the front. Fortunately, I have not gotten pulled over for my lack of front turn signals. Knock on wood.

Maybe if I put some "Fast and Furious is Gay" and "Street Racing is Stupid" bumper stickers they wouldn't mess with me...everyone assumes thats the cause of mods anyway.

Personally I prefer "Bad Cop, no donut" but that may not help your cause. The cops in middle GA have hassled kids for many years. Even my parents notice it, the cops are just always out trying to bust kids for the most ridiculous crap. It's easy revenue. Arresting and jailing burglers and muggers doesn't earn money, traffic tickets do. Tint laws aren't exactly such a bad idea. They do reduce the visibility out of a car, something that makes driving less safe. Sure you may like it during the day, but 10-2% at night in the rain can be damn hard to see out of, aka less safe. Driving without a seatbelt should be your choice, it's your life....but seeing out of a car, that's MY or somebody else's life on the line..... b |

I've had a couple of friends that are cops and they said it's not only about being able to see out of the car, it's about being able to see what's going on inside of the car...i.e., it's hard to see a gun through limo tint. that makes sense to me. I wouldn't want to have some punkass bust a cap in my ass through his limo tint |

i have you all beat. I got pulled up on. Not over. I was parked in the mall parking lot with my neon green underglo in my civic, and they pulled up next to me blocking me in, saying I was impersonating a cop. I then asked him to show me a squad car with neon green lights, and he told me to get out of the car, searched me, and then got in my face and said, you shouldnt be trying to get people to think your a cop. And i said yes im a cop with neon green lights under my car, and im gonna pull you over while im parked. He just shook his head, and told me next time its a ticket, and drove away.... i hate cops.
PS Why IS tint illegal? Never did get that. |

tint is illegal due to the fact it is a huge saftey risk for an officer. they can not see inside your car to see what you are doing......for all tehy know you have reached for your gun and loaded it and are waiting for them to approach you.

I agree with the police about the tint laws but not about the modified car pulling over. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard in my entire 19 years of crummy existence. It's like, oh, look, there goes a CRX with a bunch of stickers, some high gloss shiny metallic paint job, a big ass hood scooe, a body kit out the ying yang and a big f'ing spoiler, better pull him over. Oh look, a Camaro SS and a Trans-Am WS6 racing each other going baout 140 MPH....meh, get the CRX! I mean, come on, is this stupid or what!? I'm glad I live in Canada, woot!

Not me. I have an F.O.P. Sticker on the back window of my Si. I've had a few pull up close on my bumper then back off.

I was on I4 going towards Daytona Beach, I was going about 75-80mph, when a Corvette just wizzzed right by me, he must have been hitting 110mph...just then my detector goes crazy...I slowed down to about 65-70mph when I saw the Trooper form a distance...
Can you believe He pulled me over instead of the corvette? I asked him if he was blind or if the Corvette had a Stealth Paint Scheme...He replied, "I got you, didn't I?" Anyways, I asked him How fast was I going, aand he replied, "I didn't pull you over for that..." I recieved a ticket for the tint, and for sum'bull about improper/unsafe equipment...He wasn't real specific...Finally, I went to traffic court and he never showed up...Charges Dropped...F'the Po-lice! |
