amp question

are class - d amps only one channel amps?

also is it better to go with a one channel class -d for 2 subs, or to go with a 2 channel amplifier that is not class d?.. for instance the MTX 502 or the MTX 421D..

thanks in advance..

if your powering two subs you would probably wanna go with a 2 channel amp...you know 1 channel per speaker.

the geekz0r (11:04:16 PM): so 2nd pulls like 1st in the 5speed, 3rd is like 2nd, etc.
PortugeeTex (11:04:26 PM): so whats 1st like then?
the geekz0r (11:04:49 PM): 1st is like hitting a cheeta in the ass with a tazer

D series ampsa re more efficient and all I've ever seen em in is mono blocks. If the amp is big enough and can handle lower ohm ratings you can run multiple subs off a mono block. Most of the mono blocks I've seen are internally bridged but still have two outputs. I ran three 12" 8000 MTX's off a 1000D MTX mono block and it worked just fine, pushin about 1500 watts rms through the 3.

thats a pretty good combo.. You'd get the 2ohm DVC, run each VC in series, and run each sub in //..

The subs can handle a little more than the amp's rated power, but then again the amp can push quiet a bit more than its rated power. Also consider the JBL 1200.1, which is inexpensive and reliable.

well.. i mean i just want a clean system all around, i have boston 6.5s in teh fronts, and infiniti kappa 6x9s in the back and i just want to add some bass to get a good all around system, but i want to be able to turn it up and be heard... i had a 15 solobaric before and have heard 12 inch solobarics and like the sound of the square sub, so thas why i want to go with those... and i ran the 15 inch off of a 600 watt ppi, which was under runnning it, but still gave a lot of bass, so for teh 12s, i just dont know what amp i want to go with.. i dont want to spend too much.. but i would if it would make a big difference... i rather get good stuff, then just get cheap stuff, i rather have a high quality clear sound, then a crappy distorted loud sound... umm i hope that explains it..

thanks for ur help

I see.. With either amp, you will be heard.. But if you want extra head room, for the money, the JBL gives you a little more power. The MTX build is a little better, there havent been any issues with the JBL. In terms of sound quality, you wont be able to tell the difference.

are you goign for loudness (SPL) or quality? (SQ) If quality, Infinity Perfect 10.1 would do MUCH better than the solobaric and still deliver a nice healthy punch, just without all the boomiess of the solobarics.

not true, wire the subs down to either 2 or 4 ohm, and run it in series to a mono amp. mono amps run cooler and are smaller, so you can get mre power. an amp loses half of its power through heat, whereas a class d ( mono only) produces less heat due to the fact that it only has 1 channel to power not two.

if you do run a subs off multichannel amps just bridge the power of two channels, you will produce a much cleaner sound.

MTX amps are some of the best bang for the buck amps u can get. For that price u wont find anything better for clean power! IMO
