clutch wearing due to nitrous
My clutch is wearing big time. Im probably pushing around 250 hp not to the wheels. after a week of spraying constantly, I noticed my clutch is wearing fast. I know because my clutch makes a keek! sound everytime I press it. I havent tried wd-40 yet, but its making a different sound as if the clutch was going soon.
I need to know what kind of clutch to get. I want oem replacement like pdiggs said (exedy). However, If im planning on buying a new clutch, I want it to hold my power. It also has to be soft like the oem ones. My friend has a racing stage 3 clutch in his teg and I hate how its so hard. I need something that will hold my power, yet be soft on the pedal. Any help/advice will be appreciated. |

ditch the idea of getting a stock feeling clutch. get a heavy duty pressure plate and a street/strip disc from ACT. i have 0 complaints with mine.

the act HD/SS (heavy duty pressure plate/street disc) is perfectly fine for everyday driving. it took a few minutes of driving to get used to the slightly heavier pedal feel but after that its perfectly fine.

How are the Exedy oem replacement clutches? will they last long? They seem to be exactly same as oem of japan. Are they soft?

Dude, you'll get used to it. Get at least a stage 2 or equivalent. I have a stage 3 on my Teg. I used to hate the way it feels but I got used to it pretty quick. Pro-Clutch makes a street set-up equal to stage 2. The pressure plate has the OEM feel but it grabs like crazy on engagement.

hmm, still dont know. I was told tranny need to be removed to install clutch. Is that true? If so might as well get a new tranny too. 2nd gear starting to grind. Not that bad yet. But lil more power shifting its going to go away soon.
All I do is shift fast now. No power shifting. It fucks up the tranny |

Would it be easy removing the tranny? Should I go to a professional? think I can do it myself? Im a moderate user not a pro. I can do some stuff, but not all. Like removing the tranny, I dont know where to s tart.

usually they are like 3 screws holding it to the engine. tha hardest part would be aligning the clutch

the act hd/ss does come with an alignment tool...
As far as the tranny when's the last time you changed the fluid in it... and what fluid do you use in it... the tranny can come back from even serious grinding if it's running the suggested honda engine oil... it NEEDS manual tranny fluid. I was SURE my tranny was shot and a couple of cycles of Snchromesh tranny fluid it's all but perfect.

changing the clutch isnt exactly easy, buy a helms manual for your car and look it over. if you think you can tackle it, go ahead. but its gonna take at least 8hrs or so if not more.
changing the tranny fluid though is something you can definitly do yourself, its about as easy as an oilchange except you dont have to change a filter. |

What kind of transmission oil should I use?
Im running mobil one for my engine. I have honda service manual that I constantly check. It tells you alot about the car, how to add/remove. Is the helms worth that extra money? I think I saw it at autozone for like 15? |

yes the helms manual is DEFINITLY worth the money. and the cheap manual at autozone is not it, thats either a Haynes or Chiltons, both are pretty much worthless when compared to the helms.
This is where you get the helms: http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2...KE9A5LT8GS2TQ2 |

is the helms manual supposed to be the factory green service manual. If it is, why is it called helms and not honda service manual.

Tranny's pretty easy to get to on a d16... there's really not much in the way... if you have a lift it's easy.
as far as the trans fluid I'd recomend Penzoil's synchromesh fluid. If that doesn't do it try GM's Synchromesh "friction modified"... there are 2 fluids... most dealers will just give you the normal synchromesh fluid which is identical to the penzoil... you want the friction modified version... My tranny sounded shot... and that was a LONG time ago... now it's fine. It may take some time for the grinds to go away... some on H-T say as long as 1000 mi.

I already bought the transmission fluid from honda today. Gonna do it soon. Hope it helps out alot. If not, I will probably have to get a new clutch anyways. My clutch is making that keek! noise when pressing then depressing.

if it creeks when you hit the pedal it's more likely that it's the pedal itself that needs to be lubed... that or a bad seal in the clutch master cylinder.

It may just be your clutch actually....cause mine has done it since the day I bought it.....sounds like its not being lubed when the pedal isnt pressed? I just know that mine does that on a brand new car and the dealer never could seem to fix it and told me that all (ep3's) sound like that

pretty much just take it to someone who can tear it apart and see what is wrong with it....if it needs replaced go with the 6spd from the Type-S
