Turbochargers are driven by exhaust gas from the engine and a Supercharger is driven normally by a belt off the crank. There are advantages and disadvanages to both. A supercharger can make power almost instantly because it is drive by the motor. Since a turbocharger is driven by exhaust gases, pressure has to build and gas velocity has to build enough to spin or spool the turbine. A supercharger takes power from the engine (known as parasidic drag) whereas a turbocharger doesn't.

Hope I helped.

So, whats better Dr.?

I'm guessing for around town a superchargre would be better, but if you are doing track racing, or dragging a turbo would be better? i dunno, what?

It really all depends on what you want from your car now and in the future. If you just want a simple bolt-on to give you some more power, maybe a supercharger is for you. But, like I stated in my last post there are drawbacks from a supercharger. If you want to down the road boost the heck outta it, a supercharger isn't for you. Supercharger ( depending on type) cam only boost into the 12 lb range before excessive heat becomes an issue. A turbo on the other hand has the potential to safely boost considerably more that
