k20a??

Does anyone know a site that will give me a decent estimate on what a k20a is going to run me... I def. want a swap thats why ive basically done nothing under the hood any help you can give me is appreciated

last I looked it was $7k...that was awhile ago, so it should be less than that by now

ok I found $6300 here
and they went up from there...most expensive was over $8k...I laughed

go to www.carparts.com and do a search on their database. They have inventory from salvage yards all over the US selling stuff for pretty good prices...just a suggestion.

man u had enuff money to buy a 01 LX and a k20 i woulda just went for the RSX they are so0o0o0o nice...
unless u like that civic body style more..
but RSX S has 6-speed tranny w/ 200 HP.... ahhhh

i think the insurance would have killed me on a rsx. Also i dont have the money for the swap yet bc i am finishing exterior and interior for my car first. Im debating the k20a but thats so much money i would probably have it by next summer but thats a long time from now

because the engines are older and more available...the k20 is new and there are fewer of them out there...and more in demand for you 7th gen-ers.
oh...and you really cant put anything else in there...as far as I know...easily anyway

hmmm, why are you overlooking the h22a? Its got more hp than the k20 and will cost you about 2500 shipped...

Man, i don't know about you guys, but I couldn't live without my AC... cause it's too damn hot in AZ, and I can't live without my power steering cause I'm too damn lazy!!

well, with an h22 in a civic you won't need an A/C. I would choose no power steering...

civics with h22s have been knowen to run 12s with slicks.

yep. I was debating between a h22a or a b18c, when i was deciding on an engine swap. This is my daily driver so i wanted to keep everything.

If you get the engine from http://www.jdmclub.com/index2.html it will be 2300 shipped. You will need motor mounts from hasport. Which i belive are 500. You will also have to have axels made because of the enormous amount of torque the h22 has, also about 500. If you install the engine yourself your probly looking at about 4k. Although it can be less, i hgave heard of people not getting axels made, and just running their stock civic ones with out no problems whats so ever. But then again i have heard of people that broke their axels with the stock h22. The reason you will lose on of those opetions is because the engine is so big there is only room for one.
Also not right away but soon you would wanna upgrade the front suspension because the engine is heavy and will kill your handling.

The h22 seems like a lot of work, but once its done your civic will be more than fast.


Now ill give you my opnion. You seem to be in the same boat that i was not to long ago. Orgnially i was debating between the h22 and the b18. The b18c1 (integra gsr engine) has less power than the h22 but doesn't need all the extra work, plus i would get to keep all my options, and eventually go turbo to get more power out of the engine.
Now however, after thinking about for a while, i belive i will be going with a b16a (del sol engine) because it has 160 hp, but what makes this engine so great, is it can be bought all over the internet for under 1500 shipped, and thats the complete swap. so if get the engine for 1500, build a turbo for about another 1000 and upgrade some internal parts for about another 800, i could have an engine pushing over 15psi of boost pushing about 300 hp all for about 3800, and keeping my A/C and power stearing.

the problem is i thought that the 2k1 civics cannot work with the h22 or the b16a if they can then im happier than hell bc then i will be able to get a swap this summer

oh. ive never heard of that, but you may be correct. But if you are right, im sure you can buy mounts that would enable you to use them.

Yes, you will need to buy custom mounts. Also, you won't lose PS or A/C if done right.

the H22 swap into a Civic can be pretty expensive, it's not that easy of a swap as it's being portrayed here. It really depends on where you go as to how much it will cost. Average install of an H22 in a Civic will probably run you around $1500.

retail on the motor mounts need for an H22 swap on a 7th Gen isn't listed, but it will be around $650. You saying "the enormous amount of tq the H22 has" made me fall out of my seat laughing...that's too funny!! Anyway, go here, I couldn't find a price listed for the axles needed for this swap, you'll have to call them http://www.raxles.com/index1.htm Also, like I said before, if done right, you don't lose PS or A/C. Also, yes, it's suggested that you upgrade your suspension since the H22 is a great deal heavier than the D series motors, so you need to think of that too. Don't worry about the handling with this swap unless you are an auto-X'er though.

The H22 IS a lot of work, and it's not going to be "fast" but it will be quick.

You can keep your options with the H22 like I've said again and again, also, there are people running turbo setups on H22's in their Civics. Good choice with going with a B16A, but the Del Sol has several different motors, so clarify next time. Also, it's not a B16A, it's a B16A3 if you're talking the USDM Del Sol. Also, you should stick with the Second Gen B16A (JDM B16) since it has 10 more hp than the B16A2 and B16A3 and a little more tq. (that is unless you have emissions, then stick with the USDM motors) Also, if you're finding any B16A besides the first gen B16A for that price, direct me to them please, that's an awfully low price for any B16A (except first gen) And do you mean build a custom turbo for $1000 or buy one for that much, if you mean buy one for that much for a B series motor, direct me to this place also please.

ugh make 1 post next time . I have heard more than one person getting high 12s on slicks with just an h22a, although i haven't seen it. But i have seen more than 1 time slip and a couple of videos...And the trq thing, that h22 has more trq than any of the other b seriers motors and the breaking axels thing is waht ive read more than once, and again i have no experince with the h22 install so all i know is what i read.

I also thought there would be no problem putting a b seriers motor into the 2k1 civic.

Now my questions for you . When you got your swap, which one was it? And how hard was the wiring? I was looking at the B16a from a 88-91 SIR.

i was just told that the k20a is the one of the only ones that fits.

anyways im looking for something that will make my car quicker, while changing it from an auto to a stick, and not be so pricey that i will be in debt

don't even bother with a k20. its god awful expensive. And you can do a h22 swap, everything i listed is accurate. But if its your daily driver then i would reccommend a b18 or b16.

don't do the H22... by the time u get it in and everything is set up u could hav bought a teg type-r motor (b18c5)
i would go for that motor if i were u.. 200 HP or around there
if u dont wanna spend 5k then go for the b18c (out of 3rd gen integra gs-r)

this will be an easy motor to build upon becuz of parts availability and it alreay has plenty of bang

hope u get wutevr it is your looking for...
