so you have plans and the MDF or wood? Or are you asking whether a butt joint is better than a mitre joint? As far as internal volume, thats pretty easy to calculate roughly.

Are you going for a *regular* custom encolsure, or you want an all-out show stopper?
So you want to build the enclosure out of what material? Where do you want it in the trunk / position ? For the system to sound good, it'll have to be close to perfect.. So are you sure you have the skill to do this..?

well as for the materials.. im using 3/4" & 1/2" MDF and some plexiglass....
i dont care all too much as for maxing out the bass.. just as long as basss does come out... but its more for the show purposes.. and in terms of the joints you mentioned??? do you have a pic of what those look like?? do you neeed special tools to do that?? (like a dremel? or router?) |

IF you have the necessary tools for cutting odd shapes (including rounded shapes) you'll be fine.
Ok, so how many cu ft does each sub require? Sealed or ported? PS, you should try to keep the firing towards the rear.

i was in your same boat.. so i searched around the internet and found instructions on how to make it out of fiberglass..
i followed the step to the line and ended up with SWEET results.. heres some links (this guy goes into great detail with pics) http://members.iinet.net.au/~nismo/subs.html (so-so tutorial but has illustrations) http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/7165/how_to_1.htm (for all those that want to setup kickpanels) http://www.sentra.net/solm/december00/kickpanel.shtml |

h82lose,
Great link man! Got some good Idea's running into my head Azn ,,, and others... Stead of paint you can use felt very easily, go to the fabric shop buy a couple yards, get some liquid nails smear it all around so that it's a very light coat, and smooth out the felt, get the expensive thick felt, it still only cost a couple bucks a yard. I did this for a really crappy box I had, the felt was the only thing that turned out good!!! Patrick 4jacks
