shifter bolt fell out

so im driving around and my shifter starts feeling real loose.. then after a few more stops & go's the shifter is sliding all over the place. ill have it in 5th and it will look like it's in 2nd! heh.. so i manage (barely) to get home and jack up the car & found the bolt & spacer for the shifter to shift linkage laying on the ground directly below my car.. i'm lucky it fell out there and not on the road somewhere. so i use an allen wrech and get the bolt back in with a new nut..
i didnt know if this was a common problem since it seems like the nut just simply fell off. you also can't tighten it too much or else the shifter wont budge.. has this happened to anyone else before?

i never heard of that before. you might want to look into some nylon thread nuts. they won't come off that easy.

Nylon thread lock nuts work wonders. Just make sure that you get a non-corrosive bolt so it doesnt rust out on you. Use a grade8 or SS. Stay away from grade5 bolts.
