Let's play "Whats in my backyard?"!!
So far there's been a tarantula, a rattlesnake, scorpions and now:
A Gila Monster! Incase you're wondering, yes they're venomous, and yes I caught it, and yes its technically against the law catch them. I'll let it go tomorrow. Last edited by AzCivic : 07-09-2006 at 11:30 PM. |

I was trying to feed it a meal worm, the food I usually feed to my 3-legged gecko which I also found in my backyard.

I didn't think Gilas were native to the U.S. I wouldn't have fucked with that little bastard.

You have the coolest animals in your back yard.. We get some snakes, cats, deer, raccoon, stuff like that.. Nothing exotic though.

yeah the bite is poisonous. I just took it way out in the desert and let him go. It was sad to see him go, but I think I picked out a good spot for him. Saw some quail run off and Gila's like to eat quail eggs. And well quail get on my nerves for some reason with their running around and not flying nonsense.
Its pretty neat to find weird creatures in your backyard, keeps things interesting. Just gotta watch the cats if we let them out, otherwise they'd be dead in minutes. Have I mentioned the crazy crows that come around sometimes? Those things actually try to swoop down and get the cats. |

Hippies can be just as dangerous as gilas...but they're generally much easier to kill because they tend to be high on whatever they can get their unwashed hands on and they're sluggish. Plus I'm sure fewer people would complain if you offed some hippies.
