Compression
This is to all the Honda turbo gurus.How high of A compression ratio do you guys run for about 13PSI?
How many of you guys are running 11:1 motor with about 13PSI of boost and on Pump gas (93 OCT.)? All your input is greatly appreciated BTW this looks like nice board. |

13 psi on an 11:1 compression is risky. I'm running a JDM ITR motor 11:1 compression on 9 psi peak (steady at 8 psi) on my set-up. The key is a great fuel managent and great tuner.... dyno tuning is highly recommended.... all the info about my Teg is on my site.... We decided not to pass 7800 RPM on the dyno. I was still making power but we chose to just simulate the gain and tuning pass 7800 RPM....

I'm, as usual, with Thermal. I'd fully expect a car with 11:1 compression on 13psi of boost to grenade the motor in pretty short order. If you're married to the idea of running 13psi, I'd knock the compression down to around 9:1 or 10:1 at the very highest with some damned good tuning. I'm pushing 12psi through 8.7:1 pistons...but the motor was built to handle up to 20psi and has seen as high as 18psi.

I don't have A honda,I do have A ZR1
Corvette.The reason I was asking as to how much boost one can run on A honda there is this twin turbo project that's in progress as we speak.But the problem with this is the stock factory Compression Ratio is 11:1. The people that are fabricating the twin set-up are thinking of running 8PSI of Boost on this setup. I think 11:1 C/R is way too much. I 'd hate to say it but I think i'll see A few motors grenade. and these motors are not cheap. I do appreciate your input. |

... yeah, man.... 11:1 and boost (eventhough I'm running that) is not what I would recommend to anybody. Goodluck on the project tho.....

it can be done, and i'd call you a hero if you did it. major thing that will determine if it will last or not is TUNING! if its tuned properly and the internals are strong enough to handle that high of cyl pressure then by all means go for it. the only prob i'd be worried about is gas. 93 oct might not be enough to prevent knocking. if you did do i would run race gas all the time, but thats hella expensive. but then again if you can afford a 50,000 bone Vet AND a twin turbo kit, then you can afford the good stuff .
