1.6 Vtec Head on 1.5 Block?
I was wondering if I could do this or if it was possible at all?
I just wanted to see as I've seen some decent prices for some parts where I could. If so iis there anything special I would need? thanks for the info and feedback.. |

yup it'll work..........however, the gains arent really worth the cost of this "hybridization".
better off just swapping in a D16Y8 or D16Z (sohc vtec) engine. |

ohh I hear you 1000% on the DOHC believe me...
I have just come across a couple of deals for like a matter of 200 I could have the ability to do that on my 1.5 or w/ another for that amount total. That's why I asked. If I go w/ the later amout for 200 for Vtec head and 1.5 block I'll probably go through and put in a cam,cam gear(already have),rods/pistons and have alittle fun w/ my Sedan..Waht do you think? |

Honestly, I think it's a serious waste of money. Just save your $$ and buy a DOHC later on.

if your not looking for serious power like hittin 10s or 11s then go ahead play with the sohc...sohc are cheap and has potential...you could get alot of power out of a sohc ...you would be spending about 2500+ for a decent dohc vtec(i think thats average) swap...you could get a complete greddy kit w/ic..bov..etc..etc...for probably half that cost (used tho) and still have money for other things..fuel pump..gauges...vafc...pistons..etc etc jsut wateva you wanna spend it on.....but if looking for serious power then go for a dohc.....but to your question it is posible to swap heads...but why not jsut get a complete longblock for about 300-400 even less sometimes ??you could mostlikely pick up a newer lower miled longblock for that price
