Tranny Swap? Can it be done??
Man,im officially lost! But maybe you guys can help!! I want to swap my transmission from an AT to an MT on my 94 Accord, but I keep hearing it would never happen. I asked my friend and he said I could just take the transmission from another honda and have an engine shop install it for me. Then I had another friend that said you can do anything with my transmission but buy a new car altogether. I kinda know it would cost $$$ like from getting parts and fabrication, but if I know it can be done i'd ultimately go for it. What can I do!?!?!?

Yes, it can be done, but might cost up to $1500. You'd be better off swapping in an entire new engine.

I heard you can get em for around 3000$ with about 30K on them. One of my friends told me since japan doesn't care about smog, they're required to change their engine about a certain number of miles (100k or so). i don't know if thats true or not, but i know the price is about right. |
