I use auto accessory paint from autozone, wal-mart, etc. for 3 bucks a can. My vents in my 95 civic pop right off. Other stuff is held on with a screw or two.

Usually, the vents pop right off, some pieces have screws. You kinda have to look around and feel to see. I use regular vinyl/fabric paint. clean the pieces good first, let them air dry, then you can either prime or sand the pieces, then paint the pieces, clear coat them to keep them clean and let them dry for at least 24 hours so you won't chip them putting them back in.

on the newer civics, it may be different, but most of the vent peices pop out, using two screwdrivers. I'm currently doing my g/f's del sol, and I just used two screwdrviers and worked em out. The only problem is you usually don't know were the tabs are (the things that keep tghe vents in) and often times you'll break em off. Just be patient and work slow. Stuff you'll need:
JB Weld , for when you do break peices. Two or three screwdrivers, two flats for removing vents, the other for unscrewing certain parts. 2-3 cans of paint, I go to walmart and buy krylon. I've had good results with it, or go to Advance Auto and buy Vinyl Color. It works on plastic. Autozone sucks. A can of clearcoat, if you want the shiny look. newspaper and cardboard, set newspaper on cardboard and tape that stuff down! Theres nothing worse than having the perfect paint job and then the wind ruins it by blowing newspaper onto them! Spray outside, let it dry in the garage. Do MANY coats. I did 5 to 6 coats on mine. I don't mean just go nuts, I mean hold the can about a foot and a half away, and do light strokes. This whole process could take a few days. BE PATIENT and dont rush, or you will regret it. |

Yeah. I drove with my stuff off for several weeks. It just looks real bad. On these newer civics, I think the peice that you are wanting to paint is one big peice, that may be connected to the dash. In my g/fs del sol, it is a b*tch to remove that thing, which is why we arent painting it yet. , but yeah you can take that stuff off, just have plenty of tools handy and remember where all the screws go.

Not sure about Civics but I tried to with my accord and since I had unplugged my emergency lights button with everything else, my indicators wouldn't work. I had to pull over and just stick the clock and hazard warning light button back in. Good thing I kept it in my glove compartment! It's kinda scary not being able to indicate!!!
