First Mod
I just got my new car, again, and I'm looking to do my first mod this weekend. Nothing too expensive. My first BIG purchase will be to get rid of this Gawd-Awful beige interior. But thats later down the road. What would you suggest I do? Thoughts as of right now are an CAI or just to tint the windows. What brand(s) make the best intakes(CAI)?

From a performance aspect, #1 bang for the buck (outside Nitrous Oxide) is a good CAI

An intake is a good first mod. AEM is good, but I love my injen intake. It's a short ram with a cold air extension. So I can take the cold air extension off when it's raining really bad.

sup joey...
how many miles left on your warranty? i think your dad's getting some extended warranty so its gonna be even longer... cold air intakes vary quite a bit from the autozone piece of crap to an AEM which is probably the best out there. AEM intake is about 250.00 depending on where you get it. |

Yeah, the average price for an AEM CAI is around $200-$250

drop in K&N filter is the way to be for $40. AND get your windows tinted. bam, best of both worlds.

i don't think he's getting any extended warrantee...although i wouldn't put it past him. the warrantee on it right now is 32K and i have 14K on the car right now. When the warrantee is up, I'll probably go with an AEM CAI, DC header, some sort of QUIET, yet performance exhaust, and upgrade the ignition. SHHHH...don't say anything to my dad, because i haven't said anything to him about it. he's been reminding me that he's paying $75 a week on insurance for me. yikes!

Yeah, as posted above I fell asleep at the wheel on my way to a casino...guess it was God's way of telling me not to gamble or something. I went off the side of the interstate down a rock embankment and woke up in a field (still in my car) with an airbag in my lap trying to figure out, 'what the hell just happened to me?' Oh well, I'm alive and I now have a new car (#2) ready to be modded. Insurance hooked me up (whew). Yeah, lucky me. Oh yeah, no injuries to be named either unless you take into account all the bruises. Anywho, when it comes to CAI, what brand is the best? I've seen tests between the Injen Race Div. and the AEM and yes, the Injen came out with the most horses (on a 'lude). Do any other brands make a true CAI? One other thing, has anyone, besides myself, heard/read/seen that on the new Civics (01-02) that adding I/H/E only adds 5-hp at the wheels? I don't remember where I read that, but is this true? If so, I guess I'll be forced to drop the new Si engine in in 3 years when the warranty is gone. |

Honestly Tinting your windows is not hard at all I spent $24 on two rolls of Tint, I messed up twice, it took me way to long and my wife yelled at me the whole time.
BUT it turned out GOOD ,... I'll see if i can find a pic. Now my wife wants me to do hers Just dont do the back window, cuase of the autofrost and all, cost about $40 to get that done professionally Oh .. I'm at school...... of course i dont have a pic,... but it turned out really sweet... no bubbles

thanks Type R...It's good that there is a quiet exhaust with performance. I don't want the Civic to sound like a ricey bumble bee.

Your welcome 20civic01.....I have heard the DCsports TC2 exhaust not ricey or sounding like a buch of angry killer beez after ur ass... . Also the Evo is a good choice as well. but As from what i have heard INJEN gives ur car more HP than AEM does.... hmmmm i would go wid that since INJEN was the 1st to get it out be4 AEM or they both got it out at the same time i dunno.... i jus heard injen can give u maybe like 5 hp wid the Race division CAI
