Gill inserts for vents

I painted my vents and i dont like them at all so instead of paying for new ones i wanted to put chrome grill inserts in there has anyone done this before i have only seen it on one car and it looked pretty good

try searching the online junkyard site...car-part.com i think.

what youre showing is a custom job, prolly pretty pricey if you dont have the tools and knowhow. You can still fix youre old vents if you are patient. just remove them carefully, if you break them just use some epoxy or jb weld. Remove all of the louvers, again carefully, I used real tiny jewelers screwdrivers (cheap ones), and soak everything in warm water. I used a biger screwdriver and my fingers to work the old paint off. From there you can paint again or just reinstall them.

it is a pain to paint them i tried removing the paint but i didnt try warm water thanks for the tip its just the little vents that look crappy the other two look pretty good

let me guess:

you used walmart paint (krylon or something)
you sprayed when it was too humid
you sprayed when it was too hot
you sprayed when it was too cold
you didn't let it sit for a day

its always a combo of those that screw up a paint job. I speak from experience!

even worse i ran out of paint for my middle vents so they looked good till the last coat that spuddered and f'ed them all up
