what do i do?
I have a 92 civic hb. It's burning 2 quarts of oil to the tank. I think its the valves because I got the timing belt changed and it started burning lots of oil (there are no leaks). Should I fix my engine that I have or will I keep having problems? If there is problems I want a b16a2 but I think I need a usdm engine. Will a usdm engine cost me much more than a jdm engine. I wanted to get a jdm b16a2 for my car but I don't think it will pass the emissions in ontairo. I was also considering getting a ZC motor but I don't know much about them.
what should i do? any help would be appreciated. |

No this is the right place for this kind of Q
If you fix it right, you shouldnt have anymore problems...but it depends on the level of the fix...if you have any kind of crack...its fried...time for a new block/head/engine The USDM b16a2 does tend to cost a bit more than the JDM because its a lot more rare. Plus, if you ask me I recommend a b18c1 because it has more torque and since youre already spending the money for a new engine...why not spend a few hundred more and get one w/ more power and more potential? The ZC is a good engine too, very affordable, but even the dohc only around the power of a d16y8...plus theyre generally put into CRX platform. |

w/ any of the 3 youre going to need new mounts...depending on where you buy it from you should get a set of the correct ones
www.jdmhondaparts.com has complete engine kits and are known for very good service You also should try and get the same OBD type, in your case OBD1. Other than that, its pretty much a bolt in thing...just takes time. Heres a how-to Hybrid Honda ...they have really good info...do some research |

Dont quote me, but I'm very sure that you cannot put older engines into newer cars. This would disqualify your ZC idea, because I'm pretty sure they didnt make ZC's in 1992. I've heard this is only a problem in places like cali, but if ontario has the same laws, do some research first.

no such thing as a JDM B16A2, JDM motors don't have numbers behind them. The B16A2 is only found in 99-00 USDM Civic SI's
JDM B16's are as follows First Gen B16A - 160 hp, cable tranny, OBD-0 Second Gen B16A - 170 hp, hydraulic tranny, OBD-I B16B - CTR motor, 185 hp, hydraulic tranny, OBD-II The B16A2 is an expensive motor, I would go with a B18C1 if you have emissions. If you have emissions, no JDM motor will pass them, but if you don't have emissions, I'd go with a Second Gen B16A considering it has the same hp and a little less torque for $800 less. Also, with a 5th Gen, it is a direct bolt in swap with any B-series motor and you don't need new mounts, the swap should come with the correct ones along with shift linkage, engine, tranny, ECU and wiring harness. Here is a list of people who sell motors in no particular order www.nippon-motors.com www.sohfast.com www.hmotorsonline.com - formerly www.hondamotorsonline.com www.usedengine.com www.soko.com www.JDMHondaparts.com www.importautosalvage.com www.evanshondaspecialist.com www.raceup.com www.osakajdmmotors.com www.carparts.com |
