Post Why I hate my Si...long

You'd think when you buy a newer car than you previously had, you'd have less issues. Apprently this isn't correct.

For those of you who don't know me, I just got a 2000 back in late October. Previous to that I had a 98 EX. When I biught my car it came with the Hond Certified Warranty. Well needless to say the dealership failed to do ANY of the certification check points. Most of it is simple stuff. Change the oil, change the spark plugs, put floor mats in it, etc. Well I had to get the dealership to "throw" in the floor mats. The oil had not been changed, and you guessed it, neither had the spark plugs.

Well I changed the oil(since I was going synthetic anyhow) and the plugs. A little while later the tranny started acting up. Apparently the 99-00 Si's have a tranny problem and require some parts to be replaced in the tranny. THe dealership knew right away about this issue, but failed to replace the required parts. So I took it in. They told me they needed to order the parts. Ok no big deal. Then they tell me its going to take 2-2.5 days to complete. Alright. They have to rip the tranny apart. It can't be an easy task, so no big deal. I asked abotu a rental and they said the warranty doesn't cover it, but they can get me one for $35 a day. Needless to say, I "convinced" them to get me a rental(the rental was a 2001 LX. slow but it worked).

I got the car back about 2 days later as promised. Well about that time I got my brand new KONI adjustables in(2 days later than I was supposed to get them). So I decided that I would put them on this weekend. RacingRice offered to help out so I figure this will be cake. Wrong.

Well we removed the front bolts from the rod on the struts easily. We moved to the back to start. Well the driver's side one was not budging. It simply wouldn't move. So we move to the passenger's side. The allen bolt was stripped. Hell we hadn't even gotten to strip ourselves. Someone apparently had tried this once before. We used all the means we had to get this thing out. Let's just say I'm still on a stock suspension..

I also have a complete MSD ignition setup(6AL, Blaster 3 coil, MSD cap, NGK wires) sitting in my room. Can't put it in because I have absolutely no room. RacingRice can verify that one. This isn't a big deal since I was going turbo.

This kind of crap makes me not want to anything to my car. I mean hell if I can't install the struts, how the hell am I gonna install a turbo? Who knows what issues I could find then.

Sorry for the novel, but I had to vent.

I hear you bro. well when my parents got my car the dealership said that it was in perfect condition. we were too excited aboiut things so we really did not pay too much attention to it. Soon after we noticed that the car was pulling right very hard so we figured it was the tires, either deflated or uneven worn out. After a while (2 weeks) i noticed that the front right wheel is not centered , and it is a bit to the rear of the car. I figured out that it is ok and an alignament should fix it. when i took it to the dealer agian after 3 mos they told me that one of the cross members were bent, the radius arm is bent, and the sway bar is ?#!#?. it was almost 1 grand for the repairs.

Well about that thing that you can't take out get an impact wrench, something like 500 ft/lb of torque. it will unscrew anything. I have a HUSKY impact wrench and it really does the job. Nothing stands in its way.

So u and RR live in the same city ?

Well no. He lives about 45 minutes away. The only reason I know him is from this board. We had met up a while back.

Yeah the dealership sucks. I tried another dealership, but they didn't really care since I didn't buy the car there.

My 98 EX didn't have any issues. I even ran N2O on it.

Well good luck finding a Hond Phone #... or even an e-mail addy. I already tried. If I sell my car, I'd be worse off money wise.

Civic_Addict, sorry to hear you're having all these problems. It sucks, but I say just get the bolt drilled out to remove it, get another bolt, and go at it. It isn't the ideal situation, but you have a really nice car overall, so I'd stick with it. When you finally get your stuff installed, I'm sure you'll be much happier with the car.

Good luck

I agree.. We all go thru some frustration when trying to install new stuff. Be patient with your car..

Once you finish installing, you'll be so proud of your baby..

those stripped bolts are a bish, the driver side front strut allen bolt in my car rusted so bad that i couldnt remove it to put new springs on. if you dont care about the shocks....you can just drill a hole down in the allen bolt, and hammer an allen key in, it wont move, but you ruin a shock and an allen key. it works though.

and i know what you mean about cars acting up. but trust me do0d, you dont hate your car THAT much. i was fed up with my car.....then i got cut off.....and i realized all the hard work ive put into my car (whether its washing/waxing, oil change - just EVERYTHING) just went to shit due to all the damage and my car will never be the same. for some reason, its very disturbing. but anyways, things will look up, at least your car works.

oh and on another note, my wheel that was in the accident, IS NOT bent whatsoever, there are just soem scuff marks which can be buffed off. but otherwise its fine. so if anyone wants to bag on Rota......please explain to me what other kind of wheel is gonna survive through a crash like mine w/ just scratches. Rota 4 life.

Im telling you man... I think your car got abused a little by the previous owner... The rear bumber says a little about that..

So are you going to take the suspension up and have them put on? If so when?
