sold the civic
now what should i buy under 2K....
i dont want to spend more than that. theres a CRX in town with a rusty door. easily replaceable for 2.3K. i got 2.9K out of the civic. i have to pay 2.5k on the loan and 300 bucks to my mom. i owe her for my DIP tickets and warrant charges on the DIP. any thoughts?

a crx for 2300 bucks? better be in very good condition.
i was able to buy a celica for 2400 and it was an excellent car. if it didnt have frame problems from an accident i would have kept and said goodbye to hondas forever. if you can find one in your area for around your price, that's my recommendation. that, or get that guy down to a reasonable price on the rex with rusty door. |

maybe i'm wrong but I would think a crx with a rusty door shouldnt be over a grand. i almost got a perfect condition crx for 800 bucks when i was 16. it was seriously next to perfect

Is this car going to be a daily driver or a project car? If it's a project car, I'd talk him down as low as you can. Honestly...I don't know if I'd want that as a daily driver. Like the foreign kid said, it's likely been abused like a $10 hooker and if it's already starting to rust there's a good chance that's not going to stop. Then again...for a sub-$2K car, what do you expect?

ok heres the issue though, cars depreciate. It doesn't matter what you do to a car (unless of course its a vintage and a few other exceptions) the price shouldn't go up from the market value.

I don't know about where you live, but $1700 for a CRX which appears to be in good condition is IMPOSSIBLE to find. You'd be lucky to touch one for less then $2500 I've seen them going for $3-3500 in worse shape around here.

i search H-T for them in the midwest and i get B16 swap Trubo D or B18b1 swapped crxs going for over 3K. plus i would have to pick it up.
the door is the only thing with rust. the rear quarter were replace along with the front fenders. so im not worried about this rusting anytime soon. steve, the car will be a Dialy Driver and sometime Auto X car. i dont plan to drop more than 1K into after putrchase. thats all going into new seats, door, and possible a B18c1 long block. then it will be just that. i have no need for another project. after all the lude is about to be done.

Yeah sure... You'll get the CRX and realize how light and nimble that little car is you'll be hooked. My old SI with a stock motor and hi-po clutch use to break traction through three gears. lol That had to be the most fun car I've ever owned.
B18C1, then turbo, then... lol

Speaking of car depreciation, I was watching an RM classic car auction the other day where they sold a '71 Hemi Cuda convertible for $2.2M. What the hell is wrong with people? A $2 million Plymouth? They put a '68 Shelby 427 Cobra S/C up and it only got $1.3M. Needless to say, I was yelling at the TV more than I do when I watch Jeopardy.

No way man...you'd never see a Shelby kit car at an auction like the ones RM puts on. It was an honest to god 427 S/C. The Cuda did have the 426 Hemi, but fuck...$2.2M? That's absolutely ridiculous. It's not like those things are ultra rare. Sure, they don't exactly grow on trees, but that's a $150K car at most. Even the guys who were commenting on the auction said it was way too high.

That's the sad part...it wasn't. Just a regular '71 Hemi Cuda convertible.

Holy shit...that's not just pics of rust. It's pics of rust, serious scratches, and a door panel that's been dented to all hell. Fuck that shit...spend your money on something else.
