Advice on picture taking

So I am trying to do some picture taking with my digital camera that I got. And i'm trying to do some cool action shots with bikes leaned over going around some corners and stuff and it just seems to be missing the shot or the bike or blurry. And the photos suck. Any advice?

i dont know a lot about photography, but if you can manually adjust the shutter speed (or digital equivelant) that should help with the blurryness. And a tripod will help a lot. Digital cameras take up to a second to take the picture depending on how it is set (at least mine does), and unless you have a REALLY steady hand, you'll get blurry pictures every time.

if you can manually adjust the shutter speed than you will want to adjust it to a higher setting. this way the shutter reacts faster..(in a film camera) less light is exposed and the leass time it takes for the image to burn. if you use a fast shutter speed you get results like this

yeah you just want something you can adjust shutter speed.
