Debating....(another swap - opinions)

I have this sudden urge to get a H22A. i dont know why or how it came about, but it has.
also a B16B swap has crossed my mind. but im like, damn.....i love turbo and so im just like....damn, B18B/Turbo = 13psi max on stock internals? or since ill have my Supra within the next few months.....maybe i should just build the Honda the NA way. decision decision.......but if i went NA i think id go the B16B or B18C5 route........maybe, but damn the H22A is wonderful. gahhhhhh, opinions????????

yeah but........Supra TT will spank the hell out of the B18B-T.....so its like, why not do something different with it, ya know? even if it wont be faster than B18B-T....just somethin simple and high revving, i love high revs

H22's are awesome..

But in a Civic, the weight thing just doesnt work well.

Unless you dont care too much about handling..

hehe....B18C5....one of Americas finest but the sheer displacement of the H22A is very tempting....especially and H22 turbo this is a decision you must make on your own my engine swappin friend.

1) Has anyone ever thought of an H22 with a 75 shot of nos in a 6th gen civic??

2) i know about the weight problem.....but is it so bad that it is dangerous to do???

3) I mean i like to race on the street too.....but i usually pick a straight away (weight prob wouldnt matter then)

Alrighty, as it seems, i'm the only one on here with an h22a in their hatch that posts regularly so i must leave my 2 cents...

As far as swaps go... By just dropping them in and i/h/e the h22a's the fastest. Followed by the b18c5. I don't think many have actually been in a h22a swapped hatch. If they had there'd be alot more people wanting to do it. If you see how much wheel spin i had at the track you'd be amazed. And i still hit a 2.1 60 ft!!! Now just think how well this car will take off with slicks!!! I'm thinkin' 1.6's all day long. Of course that's after clutch and flywheel... But still, i haven't even begun to open this thing up and it's already gotten me a 13 sec. time slip off of just 2 runs!!! How tight is that!

"The Weight Thing"... I don't know how your friends car is set up but with GSR suspension, Skunk2 Coilovers and a tanabe front strut bar my car handles better than when i had a b16a in my car. The only problem i have, that i see, would not want to make people daily drive it is that the block is sooooooo long compared to a b-series therefore my header scrapes sometimes. Seriously, i think one ride in a Civilude would change your mind about b-series for good. Don't get me wrong i love b-series but they just don't pull like an h22a...

P.S. I should be hittin' 12's all-motor by May-June with 2 more mods... Clutch/Flywheel and Jun 3 cams... Oki, maybe that's not 2, but still it's not serious mods. It is kinda pricey... Cams and valvetrain is about $1500. The clutch and flywheel will probably be around $700-$800 depending on how well priced the flywheel will be... But that's not even breaking into the block or porting. I'd say that all-motor, this think can hit 11's if it's done right. Now i don't have the money or time to devote myself to a car of that sort so i'm gonna be boosting AGAIN (finally) by Christmas time. Hopefully before then... I'd say that'd be 11's daily driven...

That's how much faith i have in this swap... Just try finding someone to take you for a ride in one.

I say go for it man, TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!!

hey Jay D. Em you got any pics of your swap? and how low the header is? cuz im thinkin, im gonna be drivin around with probably a 2.5" drop at most....i have 16's and 40 series tires so i dont want to tuck, but just want to be right over the tire with no gap......think ill have some problems here going over bumps or it'll be aight as long as i go slow?
and how about fitting a turbo......i only saw under the hood of my friends once and didnt really take note of the room he had.

yeah i heard just adding a pretty thick rear sway bar should clear up the understeer problem

hyprid I guess its cool to say your getting a supra but dont run your mouth about it untill you have it. And why are you hooking up your civic if you are getting a F@#*ing SUPRA just save your money to hook that up.

Im not trying to start anything. But I dont understand what you want to do. If your getting a supra in a couple of mounths why waste the money on a civic. Your right I dont know your situation, but maybe you can help me to understand what exacally your donig. Im just saying IMO if I was getting a supra I would just save all my money up to buy a new turbo or something when i got it.

nautica is correct for the most part.....im not going to drive the supra everyday. just something for fun and to take to the strip every now and then, and shows. as for the civic, same goes for it. i dont have to save my money to mod the Supra. i have to move first though, because a 2 car garage doesnt work for me if there are 3 cars or more. need more room for workspace too
cuz im not keeping ANY of my cars outside and i dont expect my fiance to keep her car(s) outside either.
but yeah, i never was running my mouth about anything so it seemed you were trying to start something by telling me to not do something i wasnt even doing in the first place.
first few mods to the Supra will be suspension and exterior anyways.

You must have a really nice job thats a lot of money. Anyway i was'nt trying to start anything i guess i just worded it wrong. I thought that you were some 17 year old kid who was just running his mouth about getting a really nice card but they never get it. A lot of kids are like that around here and they all talk trash about how fast these cars are that they are getting and the never get them. Bad assumsion on my part.

for the cost of a b18c-r you could get an h22 and just about turbo it, also, if you go with the JDM h22a, it comes with 220hp, the b18c-5 only comes with 210hp, and the bigger engine would have more potential boost wise, and torque...i vote the h22a....JDM that is

If I buy mt h22 and wanna boost I would try to stick with a usdm h22 cause it comes with a C/R of 10:1 while the type-S h22 runs a 11:1 C/R. that's danger, unless your a tuning wiz.
But hybrid approx $1000 for labor of a h22 into civic. Was it you who told me that Titan Motorsports does it for that much? Cause I know velocity quoted me approx 2500-3000 for labor. but I know that they will do a real good job. they just did a del sol with a h22. It looked like it was meant to be in there, and they told me that he ran it at bithlo and ran a 13.8 stock. So I dunno. I hope the 1000 labor guys do a good job.

jdmclub in tampa does it for $1000. ive heard nothing but good stuff about them.
