Hi-flow cats
Hey guys, so I have a aem short ram and a dc 4-2-1 stainless header due to come in a few days and the guy at the shop also recommended a hi-flow cat, Im just wondering if it will give me a considerable gain over my stock, im running with a skunk 2 catback system. Also arent there some legal hi-flow cat's out there? Just to make it easier instead of swaping it out everytime I go for an inspection.

Could you give me a good site to pick one up? And did you notice any gain in power, oh and is there a diff between the legals and illegals as far as hp increase? (probably not too much I assume)

there may be, it's probably not very noticible unless you have a forced induction vehicle, and basically, it's a matter of if you still want to pass emissions.

well the high flow cat is designed to not restrict air as a stock would. Hence the reason why people "gut" the stock cat. not to much in HP gain that I know of maybe w/ T/SC..
I have ahi-flow cat I got a few yrs back to replace another one I got from Egay..but still have the second one for the hell of it and sold my old one, as it was still good. alot of your major parts retailers will have them but Ebay and some peeps on here can help you out for a good price.... Good luck.. |

I had a catco and it went bad in under a year...
I'm gunna have to get something eventually though... right now I'm running the catco gutted... I'm probobly gunna get a carsound or dynomax cat... but from what I hear ALL aftermarket cats suck butt... they use the cheaper of a couple materials that are suitable for use as a catalyst... however they don't last ANYWHERE near as long as a stock one. I will say though mine made a semi-noticable difference on my car... gutting it yielded a LOT more noise with about the same gain as there was from stock to hi-flo... IE not too much... although if your turbo that's a different story.
