Better Stroking
I read in superstreetonline that they destroked a 89 si SOHC from 1.6l to 1.54 and got a R/S ratio of 1.70:1 up from 1.54:1. I was wondering if something like that could be done to the LS/Vtec to get better R/S on it. I know you would lose some of the torque, buti think it would probly be worth it to get the better R/S for reliability. I dunno maybe im talking crazy talk someone set me straight! thanks

Swap the crank or shortblock.
Check out the articles section of Hondastyle under the opinions section for a couple quick writeups I did. |

the easiest way is to do what i did. Get the motor sleeved by golden eagle with a deck plate. Their largest deck plate on an LS motor is .633 inches. At .633 inches you can use an off the shelf Eagle rod. All this will cost you an extra 395 bucsk but you can end up with a 2.0 LS/vtec with a 1.72 r/s ratio that can use off the shelf pistons. You can also use the stock timing belt with a block off plate for the water pump which is included in the price.

Boosted- Out of curiosity- what engine's rods are you using, what bore are you running, and how is the deckplate attached to the shortblock?
Yes- "perfect rod ratio is 1.75. |

Im using a stock LS crank with Eagle rods. Eagle actually stocks lengthed rods for the deck plate motors. They are the same price as the rest. If im not mistaken they make 3 sizes of attition rods for the B seres motors. Ill let you know how it goes together as i persue my quest for 9s this year.

i herd that a f20b crank in a h22 gives you a 1.69 or 1.72 R/S ratio or something like that. i'd much rather have a near perfect R/S ratio than a large displacment thats putting excess stress on my motor
