Speed baby!
Hi! My name is Melissa, and I'm new here. I just bought a 1999 4 door civic lx and I love it. I suped up the exterior but I want it to go as fast as it looks. What can I do to the engine that will speed up the acceleration a lot? And how much do you think it will cost? Thanks.

well we can help you but you gotta tell us the budget. you can spend 1000 for the basic bolt ons, and be a bit faster ( at most .5 seconds) or you could go swap, or turbo or both.
btw welcome to hondastyle. ~Stefan

Thanks. How much would it be to swap it and turbo it? I'm not too sure on how much I'm willing to spend because I don't know how much these things cost. I just want a fast car!

Welcome to HS
If you want lots of speed (swap), you'll have to shell out a lot of cash.

It dont matter how fast your car is if you cant drive ....The civic is a good car to build you just need some one with the know how to properly build it . If your not tryin to turn it into a serious drag car than there is no need for a new car ....Oh and welcome to HS hope we can be of some help to you in the near future ...

Well....you could put a cold air intake on it...with a suppercharger. Wont be as effective but you'll get more horses!

Yeah. I've decided to speed it up just a little with the air intake and a new exhaust system.....until I have the money for the turbo.

Correct me if I am wrong. I personally, if between a turbo charger and a super charger... I would rather go with the SC. From my limited experience, the turbo gathers to much heat do to its location (near the exhaust), also you have to let it cool down more often. The SC is on the head, where there is less heat. Less cooling.... Again limited experince, correct me if I am wrong.
