woo good post.. im not on there yet.. but all they have to do is trace your IP to your ISP, then to you...so its not that hard.. but i heard that it will take them 2100 years to sue every body that uses kazza.... so what ever.. i have stoped and recomend that others do the same.. but you have a better chance of winning the lotto then getting sued...

They are trying to make an example out of a couple of people, the heavy sharers. If they download from you, then you will get a supena, and if you do there is not fighting it. Will actually you can go to court and fight it all you want, but you will lose, with out a doubt. They have both the money and the power to pull this off, its not a question of rather or not they can, its if they follow thorugh with it. They will never completly get rid of file sharing, but this will certinly take a bite out of it. There is currently no way to combat this. Like what Abit it trying to market (a motherboard maker) They are saying that their motherboards encrypt the data on you computer. This will not work because when someone downloads the file it will be decrpted. So that is flawed. They are also trying to ban knowen RIAA IPs from P2P networks, this also will not work because the RIAA isn't bound to a certin IP like most home users are. Once the RIAA figures out that IP is dead, they can easily switch to a new one. So that is flawed also. There is also talk about getting a private network up and running, Which would work for a short time, but no matter how tight you try to keep the security sooner or later there would be a spy, or someone would get caught and turnover on everyone in that network. And the couple of cases i have seen settled out of court, are settling for around 10k. Last edited by drdingo21 : 07-29-2003 at 08:02 PM. |

I think that's a common username for most people who use Kazaa light and don't register a username. Mine was something similar but some parts where different. Quote:
I thought it was Kazaa that had a worm, not Kazaa light. The reason light was released was due to the spyware and worm being taken off of it. |

heh, the solution to this is VERY simple... download the files from kazaa into your shared folder... once they are downloaded, copy the files and paste them into a folder you are not sharing and does not have anything kazaa related in the folder path... then delete the files from your shared folder... kazaa records the files have been deleted, are no longer being shared (because they are deleted), and you still have all your music
