it all depends on what brand, what store, and what phase the moon is in. You can get decent deals online or from crutchfield, but not always. they were running a decent deal on infinity reference, but I beleive that is over now.

I just got a fantastic deal on four alpines from my local sound shop. I got 4 6.5s for $96w/tax.

DONT go to circuit city or any of those big chains unless you have a hookup or they're having a big sale on them.

what are you thinking? you just want your subs to be the only sound? so youll have only bass? or do you think itll be a good idea to throw the mids through the subs? BAD IDEA!

Get decent mids and tweets first, then get your subs.

Just like everyone said, if you just want ok sound, then any speaker will do, but if you quality sound then, you will pay.
depends on how much you want to spend.

You're looking to spend about 40-70 for the average pair of speakers. As for the sub/amp/box, some people have package deals starting around 150-175 for an 8"/10" and about 150 watts of power. To do it right, expect to spend 400 or so for the sub/box/amp, and about 120-150 a pair for the door and rear deck speakers.
