~0-60 time with these mods???
Any ideas on how fast my 5spd '94 civic DX HB will do 0-60 or what kind of horse power I've got under the hood now? I'm askin' cuz my girlfriends stock (102 HP) auto *feels* faster! I've got these mods:
I just did a tune up and found a weld separating at the 4-2 junction on the header... a small air leak there shouldn't slow the car, but what would it do? No Power steering DC Sports Cat back exhaust and muffler ?+HP? Bosal header ?+HP? Jet ECU upgrade +8-10 HP AEM Cold Air Intake ?+HP? LOVE THE SITE!! I've registered here and at Civicland.com...I think the two sites should join forces and buy the OPEN URL www.hondacivic.com Make it the end all, be all, civic resource site! Thank you for the message board! Peace out. |

Welcome to HS! I don't know the answer to your question, but I don't think that the jet chip will yield 8-10hp w/ those mods listed.

With those mods you should be able to achieve close to 17-20 hp.
In general an ECU upgrade is done once their is a hella lot of work done on the engine itself. BAsically if you're going for a little performance, a small turbo maybe the more economical route. but like i said, it all depends on what you're going for.

17-20hp? that could be debatable.....but then again cant say for sure unless its dynoed, but there arent enough mods for that chip to really be worthwhile. im gonna guess more like with all those mods you gained 7-10hp @ the wheels.

I'm leaning more toward 10ish HP from those mods at the wheels also. Maybe a couple more if you're lucky.

Is that ECU that crappy?
Most decent ECU's will optimize well enough to atleast get you that hp. C'mon Triggedy, install it and tell us how much your car is running!!

There was a recent article in one of the popular import mags where they put I/H/E on a new Accord and it pulled a 6-7hp increase over stock. The PS removal probably gained a little, and the chip, maybe 3-4 from what I've heard. BTW, jet ECU upgrades are good, but they just don't pump out what they claim (just like almost every other mod manufacturer)
I'd like to be more optimistic, but I really haven't seen most Hondas gain that much from basic bolt ons. Now on the other hand, that same mag put I/H/(test pipe?) on a Supra and it gained a crazy 70hp or something. I'll have to find that mag somewhere.

yeah its amazing how much a better flowing exhaust will help a TT car.. Im going to have to agree with 7-10.. save your money and get a greddy turbo kit... probably wont cost much more.

When the car was bought NEW it didn't have PS in it, it wasn't removed for perf. gains. I already got the car and it had all of the following on it ALREADY...the Jet ECU, bosal header, dc exhaust and the AEM intake. The 8-10 hp increase I claimed is just hearsay published by Jet, not me.
So you all are saying with all those things on it, I should expect a total increase of about 7-10 hp...not much more. So, my 0-60's shouldn't be much better than a stock, eh?! For shame, that sux I wish the ECU mod hadn't been done actually, because the idle is somewhat erratic after start-up and it's sounding like it didn't do anything really. Oh well. So where can you get a car dynoed? |

I would say that you've probably added about 15 or so w/ that ECU upgrade but indeed that isn;t normally done til alot of the mod have been done and it's done last to get the full effect of everything you have..
as for the 0-60 that would really depend on hook up and the driver... hope this helps alittle.. |

In theory those mods should be done at the end.
After the big mods have been done. Turbo... So that you could reach a real max.. And of course the gains will be much more considerable with boost.
