air intakes
I'm getting ready to get an intake for some more hp on my civic... I've heard/read aem is THE best. Any thoughts on that?
Also, is there much of a difference between aem's short ram and regular intake? Short ram says its an "under the hood" version. thanks

AEM is the way to go.
CAI vs. short RAM: For every 10 degrees colder air you intake, you gain approx. 1% hp. Obviously from this, the CAI is the way to go.

I've heard about enclosing your CAI filter in a box type of thing to get the most cold air which also shields the engine from heat. Is this really needed or no?

Haha yeah that's what I figured... how about that optional value to keep out water? It's like 40 bucks... is that un-needed, too?

even though they say no power loss... i think the water seperator lets hot air in the intake

sounds cool.. are there any other ways to get HP besides an intake and new exhaust system? or is that about it without a new engine.

i guess you need to learn the basics of a motor.
i will forgo the header since everyone will talk about that. A new camshaft(or shafts depending on the number of cams) Advancing the timing of the engine(changing the intake stroke), increased air flow through the entire motor(throttle body, intake manifold, blah blah blah) Stroker kits to increase displacement, forced induction, nitrous, there are a million more. Just read up on the aspects of how a motor works.
