Hard to put a cat-back exhaust on myself?

well i should be gettin my new exhaust here in 2 days and was wondering if i should do it myself or have a shop do it. I aleady have the axelback off. Just the midsection is it. I see that 2 of the hangers on my teg are welded on so i wouldnt be able to get those off myself. MY question is would i have to weld those back on to my new exhaust so it doesnt come loose?

lol Stefan... i wish i could man.. but my car isnt fit to drive up therre right now... Well we got some problems right now. The bolts holding the pipe to the cat are sooooooooo rusted and will not move... i tried everything.. i even sprayed them with pb blaster too. Also a funny thing. Someone maybe the dealer when they put a new cat and exhaust on my car brike the bolt holding my cat up to the header collector.. so ya. I am thinking of taking it to a muffler shop.

Do it yourself.
Grind off the stubborn bolts and go buy new ones.
Trust me..there is a satisfaction of doing things yourself..

Just get a grinder and cut those rusted bolts off. Then just get the old exhaust off and put this one in.

It probably won't come with new bolts, but if you have an auto/hardware store near you that shouldn't be a problem, right?

Do you have a grinder that you can use? That should make the job much easier...

Why don't you take it to a shop...and ask them to do it...and ask them to show you how to do it...say you really want to learn.

http://www.4gcivichowto.0catch.com

theres the site I made to show how "hard" it was to do my own catback. I basically took two days because I didn't plan ahead. I had the same problem you have with the cat being fused to the old pipe. I wasted so much time trying to hacksaw those bolts (If I had a dremel at the time, that might have done it), when I justed ended up taking it to my dads friend and he torched the bolts out. after that it was complete bolt up, easy as pie.

Mine came with some hardware, although I had to buy a few extra gaskets and one bolt. oh and also, make sure you put the midpipe in RIGHT SIDE UP! for a week I couldn't figure out why it was scraping on every bump!

just do it yourself, you'll feel great about it!
