No Boost...
well everything's hooked up and running, but i'm feeling no power. wastegate is good, BOV is blowing off, no knocking, but NO POWER!! here are the thing I think it could be, but giv me your opinions cuz i'm not a know-it-all just yet...
1. Fuel Ratio is wrong - i know it's not right on the dot but it's close though i did stall out once... 2. Boost Leak - i got a bunch of connections and a DSM intercooler... so this is likely, i'll try to go over them all, though having a boost gauge would prolly help me out here huh? 3. Intake pipe too small - yea my pipe is like 1.5 inches in diameter... and the inlet on the turbo is 2.5, so i'm gonna switch it up this weekend. 4. God Hates me - this is also a fact and i'm so pissed that the car just WONT BE FAST!!! i want BOOST!!! plz help me out jebus and fellow boosters... |

do you have a mech boost gauge? on your SAFC, whats the boost scale setting? it might be set to read only vacuum, on mine i had to change the pressure scale to read up to 1.0 bar for it so show positive boost.
i would say its a boost leak... fuel won't affect boost pressure (fuel doesn't drive turbo). but it would have to be a big boost leak for no boost to show up. piping size would be the 2nd thing i look at, but even with small pipes you should get boost pressure just real slow boost build. |

Get a boost gauge.... you are not boosting man. What kind of WG do you have? Fix that piping problem. If your AFC does not past zero then you are not boosting. It doesnt matter if your BOV whistles. It doesnt mean you are boosting. And since you are not, chances are your engine is working harder now since it has to draw air all the way through the piping from the TB to the compressor inlet.

alrite, the wastegate is internal.. don't know what the spring is set at. It's a T3 Airresearch (Garret) Turbo. and i fixxed the piping problem yesterday to no affact. (no more power) i asked one of my boost buddies today at school and he thinks it's the wastegate also. how can i test this theory?

If your internal WG is stuck open, then you have to remove it to fix it. To test to see if it is stuck open, then all you have to do is disconnect the diaphragm actuator hose. Drive the car and see if you boost. DO NOT DRIVE IT HARD. Just monitor the gauge. Theoritically, with that hose disconnected, you will hit max boost since the WG will be closed the whole time. Try that and see.....

lol
i did that yesterday b4 u posted... i thought i was smart cuz i thought of it all by myself and yea, it turns out that while i was securing the turbo in place 2 weeks ago, my dad was at the picnic table hammering on my wastegate to make it more compact... this is what he had to say... "if you woulda told me the god damn thing was spring actuated i woulda never hammered on the god damn thing! don't blame me for this." wtf... so i'm getting a new one and then i should be straight. thanx guys. |

First, why on earth would install a turbo and NOT install a boost gauge? That makes no sense at all.
Second, never let your dad help you again. Anyone banging on ANYTHING other than a stubborn bolt shouldn't be helping you out. So yeah I imagine that's the issue. What wastegate are you getting? OT: 307whp & 208ft/lb???? Damn thermal.....
