This K stuff is confusing,
So the accord has the same engine as a CRV? I'm guessing the E.C.U is diff. What's the engine in the old SI? |

I have a heard time believing the Accord beat a Crown Vic.. Sounds like the driver of the Crown Vic didn't know how to drive. The V6 2004 Accord is pushing less than 300hp to the wheels and the Crown Vic V8 should be pushing way more than that.

Accord V6 has good specs Accord is much lighter, maybe its manual. Accord if manual has better transmission(Honda has good transmission). Accord's engine require's less torque to get it working. I can see how an Accord beats a Crown vic |

Will when I beat him , his car seems to have a crappy trainsmisson it shifrs very slow , and at wheel start it seems to be like a bus , other things it's speed is limited at 100 m/h
will the accord shifts very very fast ( very low lag time ) no wheel spin , DOHC engine ( i-VETC ) , much lighter , much much better Drag air flow for the body and for the engine ,,, so don't think it's all about horespower and toruqe many other factors effect the car performance , |

Oh its got DOHC, SO its probably the K series so its a 4 cylinder,
I don't think the 4 cylinder can beat the crown vic. |

jesus you guys are missing the point here.....Not all K series are 4's the k24 ares the the ones in the pilot ( i think) the element and something else. The tq is way higher than the 4's the crown vic isnt really all that fast if he was in his accord the vic would stop before he(accord) was out of 3rd gear. I bet the accord could take it not the si ("stream"sorry im in the us) Also i dont think the us v6 accord has the K24 because it is a 3 litre vtech engin......

jesus i was just about to lay into him for me sticking up for him and then he does this....thank you. I was saying that as soon as you guys heard of the K series that you thought of the 4's. I understand that i have never heard of a "tricked out" element with the k24 makeing 300 hp or tq...

This wouldn't suprise me at all. The Crown Vic's motor isn't too strong (less than 300hp...that's what the Marauders had...302hp I believe) and, since it's a luxobarge, it's at a huge weight disadvantage. Either way you cut it, the Vic's not exactly a sports car.

Which gen Monte SS? My roommate is a Monte SS freak. The newer ones (like within the last year or two) have the deathless blown 3.8L motor you'll find in a Grand Prix GTP and the newer Impala SS's. I believe those are making 240hp or so. Slightly older ones made something like 200hp from a N/A 3.8L. The gen before (the '82-'87 models, I believe) that got the oh so wonderful LG4 305 that belted out a whopping 180hp. They are in no way, shape, or form connected to the NASCAR cars save for the name (but that's the way things go in NASCAR). The closest resemblence to the NASCAR vehicles were the '86-'87 Aerocoupes...just a regular SS with a longer sloping back windshield (which actually made it slower due to the window's ridiculous weight). Any way you split it, the Montes aren't major players.

A stock Crown Victoria from '96 had about 190 - 210 hp I think (I might be wrong, I'm more educated with the 5.0 and 5.8L panthers). In '98 they went to a much better cylinder head design, but like someone pointed out already, Crown Victorias are made for comfortable cruising, not racing. They can be made to be pretty fast though. The '93 - '97 Vics were also a little bit lighter than the generation before and after it (something like 3800lbs!), making them the most ideal of the panther platform Fords for hot rodding. I know of Crown Victorias in the mid 12's, but they are not stock. DOHC makes a difference in the top-end performance of an engine. The 4.6L V8 in the modern Crown Victorias make ~230-240hp, while the DOHC 4.6L V8 in the Marauder makes 302hp. Only differences really are the heads (with the valves and cams and stuff) and the intake. An engine with more valves can breath more easily and therefore make more power (relative to the engine) at the top, while sacrificing low-end power. I can believe that a stock Honda with a good engine (their V6 is really nice) can beat a stock Crown Victoria - especially an older one that has probably been beaten on and is losing compression. |
