That piece is a some sort of sensor that is connected from the intake manifold vacuum source towards the charcoal filter mounted on the firewall by the battery. I'm trying to remember if I connected mine. Your Y8 should have that too. Should be mounted by the injector harness. It may not look the same but should be the same purpose.
