Why so rich?
Last night I did a bit of data logging on my Si. I noticed that under normal conditions and idle it runs pretty rich. In fact the only time it made into the lean area was under very hard acceleration. And it barely made it into the lean area. Not a bad thing...
Its kind of neat to watch it. Once I hit about 5500 RPM (VTEC engagement) the mix goes to perfect. Its a beautiful thing. My whole point in this was just to ask why? Why is it so rich during normal driving? You would make more power if the mix is leaner correct? So why shouldn't it be a little less rich during normal driving? You could crank a bit more out. Maybe not alot, but still. Anyhow, this was just something to ponder. I'll see if I can get the data into readable format for you all if you want.
